The cult like, emotional reasoning of the GOP is astonishing. Rush is making himself into a total hypocritical ASS this morning trying to excuse good ol' Newt. Hannity will take the PM shift! They're willing to ignore the sexual sins of Newt Gingrich, nearly identical to those of Clinton, and use the left tactics of destroying the messenger.

So, now we know that Newt wanted his wife and his mistress at the same time. But that's not the worst of it. These phony conservatives are also willing to just IGNORE the ample, liberal leaning, DANGEROUS history of Newt Gingrich. JUST WOW!

The really BAD property rights record of Newt Gingrich

Gingrich co-sponsored 418 bills in Congress with Pelosi during the 12
years they served together in the House, according to the Library of
Congress’s THOMAS database.

Gingrich was in Congress from 1979 to 1999. Pelosi has served since 1987. Speaker John Boehner, who has servedin Congress with Pelosi for more than 20 years, has only co-sponsored 104 bills with her.

Many of the bills Gingrich and Pelosi co-sponsored were hardly
divisive, But one piece of legislation SHOULD be problematic for
Gingrich with conservatives: the Global Warming Prevention Act of
1989, which never made it out of committee.

The legislation declared that climate change was “a major threat to
political stability, international security and economic prosperity.”

The bill could also make the pro-life community uneasy with language
about the availability of “family planning services” that included a
declaration that, “curbing world population growth will be critical to
achieving the goals.”

And while it prohibited funds from going towards “involuntary
sterilization or abortion,” it doesn’t appear the bill would have
prevented “voluntary” cases of abortion.

R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for Gingrich, didn’t comment when reached by email.

Gingrich’s Record on Property Rights

This morning on “Meet the Press,” former Speaker Newt Gingrich repeatedly insisted that he and the other candidates should be evaluated based upon their respective records. Fair enough. As it happens, Gingrich may be the only nominee who actively sabotaged an important conservative reform effort. Even though the protection of property rights was a plank in the Contract with America, and the enthusiasm of the property rights movement had been important in the GOP takeover of Congress, Gingrich personally prevented property-rights-protective reforms of the Endangered Species Act from passing the House and then gave one of the most liberal members of the Republican caucus and environmental activist groups a de facto veto over environmental legislation.
These machinations were documented in an article in The Environmental Forum, a magazine published by the Environmental Law Institute — an article Gingrich cited favorably in his own book on environmental policy. Does Gingrich still believe he made the right choice? What should conservatives make of this part of his record? Are there any other candidates who betrayed conservative principles so directly and with equivalent results? I’m still waiting for the former Speaker to address this part of his record (if he has, I have not seen it).

Only Gingrich could make Romney look good! THE REAL NEWT!

So much for that old line about Reagan's 11th amendment! Playing the lefts class warfare game has backfired on Newt. Newt isn't happy....he's being seen for what he is...a petulant, emotionally challenged old fool who makes Romney look better than he ever has! Yeah, he's 'smart' alright.

It's impossible to fathom that so called conservatives could EVER consider Newt Gingrich for any office! He is the rights Barak Obama...a Community Organizer...never had a job that wasn't government or funded by the taxpayers for one of his many 'non profit's'. One would think that being forced to resign his seat in congress by his own party would be enough to wake them up!

We criticized Clinton and Obama as children of dysfunctional families and Newt is just another 'lost little boy', incapable of being a responsible adult.

From the cauldron of his childhood -- the father who abandoned him, the manic depressive mother who loved him too much, the stepfather whose anger shaped the family -- Newt Gingrich emerged with a heroic need that became his mission.

Gingrich remarks about his stepfather, "He and I fought from the time he adopted me until I was 19. " His childhood --shaped by the rejection by not just one but two fathers, and the manic-depressive illness of his mother-- created a psychic need so great that only the praise that attends a savior can fill the vacuum inside him. He drives himself monomaniacally, obsessed only with his goal. No amount of personal deprivation --100-hour workweeks, no vacations, no time with his wife-- diminishes his narcissistic vision of the global glory that will ultimately be his prize.

Despite the fact that one of Newt Gingrich's forebears fought in the Civil War on the Yankee side, everyone thinks that the Georgia congressman is a dyed-in-the-wool son of a Dixie. He is not. He is rootless, raised on a drifting landscape of army bases here and abroad and in a blue-collar backwater in Pennsylvania called Hummelstown. (rootless...sounds like Obama to me!)

As the Speaker himself said, "I found a way to immerse my insecurities in a cause large enough to justify whatever I wanted it to."

Gingrich
pursued higher education, receiving an M.A. in 1968 and a Ph.D. in modern European history from Tulane University in 1971. While in New Orleans, Gingrich developed an interest in religion, and was baptized in a Baptist church. Gingrich worked early on in academia, as an assistant professor of history and geography at West Georgia College.

Always interested in history and politics, Gingrich got involved as the Southern regional director for Nelson Rockefeller.

"Looking back on everything, Newt was always focused on his agenda," recalls Dot Crews, Newt's campaign scheduler through the 70s. "It was not about political philosophy with Newt --never. If the country today were to move to the left, Newt would sense it before it started happening and lead the way."

In 1974 he gave a quote to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution which was clearly meant for the history books: "[My ambition] is to be an old-time political boss in 20 years."

One of Newt's former girlfriends has this to say:

He met her back at her modest hotel room. "We had oral sex," she says. "He prefers that modus operandi because then he can say, "I never slept with her." Indeed, before Gingrich left that evening, she says, he threatened her: "If you ever tell anybody about this, I'll say you're lying."(Shades of Bill Clinton!)

She tells me this, she says, because she fears that Newt might become president someday. "I don't claim to be an angel," she says, but she is repelled by Newt's stance as Mr. Family Values. Gingrich voted to designate 68 million acres of land in Alaska as a “federally protected wilderness.” He also says that Gingrich transfered 2.2 million acres in Idaho to “federal wilderness land control” —

In a town hall meeting sponsored by East Orlando Tea Party in Orlando this past September, Gingrich described his efforts to fight Agenda 21 if he were elected president.

“One of the things that is popping up, for example, is Agenda 21, which is not something I even knew about until we did a couple of conference calls,” the former House speaker said.

Like you needed more reasons to scratch Newt of your list as a potential GOP nominee. The Conservative group, Gun Owners of America, reminds us that back in the day, when Newt was in Congress, he was no friend to gun owners.

Despite Newt’s promise that NO gun control legislation would ever make it out of committee, let alone to the floor of the House, many left wing gun control bills did just that, and with the full support of Newt Gingrich.

[And some people wonder why you can’t trust Newt as far as you can throw him!]

Not only did Newt support liberal legislation that infringed on gun owners’ rights, some of this legislation, like the ban of guns in schools, made disasters like the shootings at Virginia Tech all the more possible.

Some of the legislation Newt helped pass through his Republican controlled has resulted in otherwise law abiding Americans to lose their Second Amendment rights for the most minor of infractions.

What kind of man would work to take this lady’s rights away?

Prior to the “Republican Revolution” of 1994, Rep. Newt Gingrich of Georgia had earned an A rating with Gun Owners of America. But that all changed in 1995, after Republicans were swept to power and Gingrich became Speaker of the House.

The Republicans gained the majority, thanks in large part to gun owners outraged by the Clinton gun ban. And upon taking the reins of the House, Speaker Gingrich said famously that, “As long as I am Speaker of this House, no gun control legislation is going to move in committee or on the floor of this House and there will be no further erosion of their rights.”

His promise didn’t hold up, however, and his GOA rating quickly dropped to well below the “C-level.” In 1996, the Republican-led Congress passed the “gun free school zones act,” creating criminal safe zones like Virginia Tech, where the only person armed was a murderous criminal. Speaker Newt Gingrich voted for the bill containing this ban.[1]

The same bill also contained the now infamous Lautenberg gun ban, which lowered the threshold for losing one’s Second Amendment rights to a mere misdemeanor.[2] Gun owners could, as a result of this ban, lose their gun rights forever for non-violent shouting matches that occurred in the home — and, in many cases, lose their rights without a jury trial.

While a legislator might sometimes vote for a spending bill which contains objectionable amendments, that was clearly NOT the case with Newt Gingrich in 1996. Speaking on Meet the Press in September of that year, Speaker Gingrich said the Lautenberg gun ban was “a very reasonable position.”[3] He even refused to cosponsor a repeal of the gun ban during the next Congress — despite repeated requests to do so.[4]

Also in 1996, Speaker Gingrich cast his vote for an anti-gun terror bill which contained several harmful provisions. For example, one of the versions he supported (in March of that year) contained a DeLauro amendment that would have severely punished gun owners for possessing a laser sighting device while committing an infraction as minor as speeding on a federal reservation.[5] (Not only would this provision have stigmatized laser sights, it would have served as a first step to banning these items.) Another extremely harmful provision was the Schumer amendment to “centralize Federal, State and Local police.”[6]

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) warned his colleagues about the hidden dangers in H.R. 3610, and in regard to the Kohl ban, noted that it would “prohibit most persons from carrying unloaded firearms in their automobiles.”

Newt lies to gun owners, telling them he would protect their rights, and ensure no gun control legislation would see the light of day on his watch, then proceeds to push through some of the most radical gun control laws in our nation’s history. Can you trust this man?

No.

Can you trust Newt when he says he won’t push amnesty for illegals, government mandated health insurance, sweeping “global warming” legislation like cap and tax, if elected? These are all positions he’s supported, some as recently as six months ago.

Not no, but hell no!

If Newt can’t be trusted to protect our sacred Second Amendment rights, after stating in no uncertain terms he would, how could any rational human being think he wouldn’t lie again, and push all of his Big Government “progressive” nonsense once in office.

How can any rational human being think Newt could be trusted in any way, shape, or form?

Newt’s word means nothing. Nothing whatsoever.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice ….

NEWT GINGRICH a few years ago : " Anything less than requiring people who are working here illegally to return home to apply for a worker visa is amnesty."
This is a bit different than the position he took in the CNN debate, where he suggested that ripping apart families and sending people who've been active in the community for a long time back to their native countries was not the proper approach.

They also understand simple English better than the political class, even a presidential candidate.

No, not 'comprehensive immigration reform' or a 'path to legality'. AMNESTIA! They get it! And they know which candidates are on their side. The 'hispanic community' is solidly behind Gingrich. Newt even has his own Spanish Language outreach program...The Americano.

This is the same tired, deceitful argument we've been having for the last decade....some people just can't admit what amnesty is, and give it all kinds of cute names to disguise it. The saddest part is how many intelligent people often fall for it.

What I need is for someone, ANY one to show me where Newt ever backed building a fence on the border when he wasn't campaigning for president.

The think tank, The National Foundation for American Policy (NFAP), that issued the letter supporting McCain/Kennedy/Bush 'comprehensive immigration reform' is one of many 'non partisan', non profit think tanks Gingrich is involved with. It is replete with articles and statements of support for 'legalization'. But I'll be damned if I can find a word to support Duncan Hunter's fence or for supporting the enforcement of the LAW!

Good GOP soldiers like Sean Hannity keep trying to tell the left and the media that we're all just 'vetting' Obama, like they should have. Too bad he won't 'vet' some of our own candidates a bit better instead of having NEWT on his show ad nauseum without ever getting to the meat of the situation.

Some pundits are calling Michelle Bachmann a 'liar' for being the only candidate with the cajones to call Newt out on his decades long support of AMNESTY. She didn't lie, she just told you what you refuse to hear! Others say Newt was only one of 15 signatures on the Wall St. Journal letter in support of the Bush AMNESTY. True...and the others you had better take notice of! The lot of them are open border, cheap labor, globalist hacks.

Grover Norquist. He was co author of Gingrich's 'contract with America' and the force behind Bush's 'comprehensive immigration reform'. Along with other signatories, he managed to destroy California's Prop. 187 to control illegal immigration. Newt Gingrich describes Norquist as “the most innovative, creative, courageous and entrepreneurial leader of the anti-tax efforts and of conservative grassroots activism in America . . . He has truly made a difference and truly changed American history.”
Where you find Gingrich, you will find Norquist and be saddled with more cheap labor 'trade' agreements like Nafta, Gatt, and any give away to any 3rd world sewer they choose. And where you find them both, you will likely find Karl Rove. Count on it! Rove, Norquist, Gingrich...the 3 headed Trojan horse of the GOP.

And this....for the memory impaired, Newt co sponsored the original 'FairnessLink Doctrine' bill which was meant to shut down conservative talk radio. Yeah, he was for it, before he was against it...one of MANY bad bills Newt tried to hoist upon us all.

And for those of you in the tech industry, who have had their jobs outsourced, House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA) supported an increase in the H-1B ceiling. There was a cap of 65,000 H-1B visas per year, until Newt 'fixed it'. The Clinton Administration on February 25, 1998 testified that any increases in the H-1B ceiling must be linked with reforms to ensure that employers try to recruit US workers and to guarantees that H-1B workers do not replace laid-off US workers: "Increased immigration should be the last -- not the first -- public policy
response to skills shortages."

In his farewell address to the nation, President Reagan said: "I've spoken of the Shining City all my political life . . . [I]n my mind it was . . . teeming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace, a city with free ports that hummed with commerce and creativity. And if there had to be city walls, the walls had doors and the doors were open to anyone with the will and heart to get here."

America is a nation of immigrants. Except for Native American Indians, everyone in this country came to America or is here due to the good fortune that a parent, grandparent, or other relation came before them. Keeping a door open to those with the "will and heart to get here" is vital to our economy, our culture, our role in the world, and our historic tradition as a land of freedom and opportunity.

Conservatives believe in legal immigration. We believe that America grows stronger by welcoming those who seek to better their families, work in our industries, and find liberty and refuge from oppression.

Conservatives oppose illegal immigration. We believe there is a right way and a wrong way to immigrate to the U.S. However, as conservatives we believe that our laws must reflect reality and common sense, be fiscally responsible, and avoid the loss of innocent life. Our current immigration laws do not pass this test.

Between 1990 and 2000, the U.S. increased the number of Border Patrol Agents from 3,600 to 10,000. During that same period illegal immigration rose by 5.5. million. Moreover, over the past eight years, more than 2,000 men, women, and children have died attempting to cross into America and seek the opportunity to work and achieve a better life. The status quo is unacceptable and clinging to the status quo -- or tougher versions of it -- is neither conservative nor principled. It has become clear that the only viable approach to reform is combining enforcement with additional legal avenues for those who wish to work in our economy, while also addressing the situation of those already here in the U.S.

President Bush has proposed a new legal path to work in the U.S. through a temporary worker program that will match willing workers with willing employers. We applaud the president and believe his approach holds great promise to reduce illegal immigration and establish a humane, orderly, and economically sensible approach to migration that will aid homeland security and free up border-security assets to focus on genuine threats. The president has shown courage by calling on Congress to place reality over rhetoric and recognize that those already working here outside the law are unlikely to leave. Congress can fulfill its role by establishing sufficient increases in legal immigration and paths to permanent residence to enable more workers to stay, assimilate, and become part of America.

We believe strongly in assimilation and oppose efforts to weaken the historical process that has led to e pluribus unum. While immigrants by and large reject entreaties by those who favor multiculturalism, the best defense is a good offense: making the teaching of English and civics a priority in our schools, community colleges, and adult education programs.

Immigrants are crucial to our competitiveness and future labor and economic growth, as well as our military strength. Our country's welcoming attitude to immigrants will permit the U.S. to grow and prosper, as the populations of many other nations stagnate and decline. Each generation of Americans must connect our nation's past to its future and in so doing keep President Reagan's vision of the "Shining City" alive.

PAY ATTENTION! How have you all forgotten, or chosen to IGNORE the history of Newt Gingrich? TheTownCrier has tried for years to expose his 'moved left' record and now Newt is climbing in the polls for president. I find it astounding!

Newt is for amnesty. In CNN June debate he , not unlike Perry, used the word heartless against those that would like to deport illegal aliens as REQUIRED BY LAW! Either change the
law, or enforce it...at least pick a candidate who might do one or the other!

Gingrich Backs Obamacare’s Individual Mandate Requiring Health Insurance
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance.
Meet the Press in October 1993: “I am for people, individuals -- exactly like automobile insurance -- individuals having health insurance and being required to have health insurance. And I am prepared to vote for a voucher system which will give individuals, on a sliding scale, a government subsidy so we insure that everyone as individuals have health insurance.”

Gregory asked Gingrich if he would criticize GOP presidential rival Mitt Romney, whose "Romneycare" health program enacted during his time as Governor in Massachusetts mandated that all uninsured purchase health insurance.

Gingrich replied he would not make it an issue in the campaign and said he agreed with key aspects of Romneycare.

"I agree that all of us have a responsibility to pay--help pay for health care," Gingrich said, adding, "I've said consistently we ought to have some requirement that you either have health insurance or you post a bond ..."
