We stood by Arizona & They gave us 6 more years of McCain!!!

What can I say? I give McLiar a week before he starts the pandering to foreign nationals and their big dollars.

Here's the reaction to the Arizona Senate race from Conservatives, who sum it all up!

BREAKING: McCain Wins Primary (Idiot Republicans on Parade) Tue Aug 24

ex-snook: The lesson of elections is - you can’t bring an idea to a money fight. He who pays the media calls the tune.

doc1019: How can a state that is willing to fight the President over illegal immigrants continue to elect this idiot RINO.

Boucheau: Thank you Sarah Palin! Well done, you hack!
Not to mention all the GOP-bots out there—you are about as useful as Obama voters.
The Commie-Lite GOP Establishment wins again!

who knows what evil?: The pig McCain will probably beat the democrat by 20%; so it might be interesting to see 'None of the Above' pull 10-15% in November.
McCain...no need to worry about an Obama presidency, my ass...thanks for ruining my country, dipstick.

GinaLolaB : I don't want to hear Hannity or Limbaugh whining when John McCain starts stabbing us in the back again. They never helped Hayworth at all. Wow!

KTM rider: this is so depressing I dont know if i can get out of bed to vote republican come november........why bother its like a choice of "socialist" or "socialist light" and Palin is like a character from some kind of a saturday night live skit, like some cruel joke that flirts with reality.

VRWC: Bad night for America. DC will never fear us at the voting booth. Dark, violent, times ahead. AZ gets the open, crime ridden, border they deserve with this vote.

Jake from AZ: In case you can’t tell from today’s election results, we’re all a bunch of f___ing idiots down here. That may also have been a factor. The American Dream, which is to say the classical liberal dream, is officially deader than dog$#!+.
AND a special thank you from INFORMED Americans to J.D. Hayworth:

Mr. Hayworth, you quit your job and entered this race because WE ASKED YOU to, when no one else had the cajones to challenge John McCain's politically corrupt machine. You walked the talk, as you always have and we appreciate it.

BY THE WAY......
It appears Newmax has gone to the dark side......Last week they invited Bill Clinton to their offices as a 'special guest', and now this.......

Dozens of bodies found at Mexico ranch

Map of Mexico

Mexican troops say they have discovered 72 bodies at a ranch in the north of the country.

The bodies were found after a shoot-out with suspected drug cartel gunmen in which three gunmen and one marine were killed, the military said.

Found near San Fernando in Tamaulipas state, the corpses are reportedly those of 58 men and 14 women.

More than 28,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico over the last four years.

The shoot-out near San Fernando happened after an injured man turned up at a navy checkpoint saying he had been attacked by cartel gunmen, Mexican media reported.

Troops raided the ranch, launching an aerial assault. They arrested one underage suspect, military said.

Don't like the NY Mosque? How 'bout Mexican Police patrolling NY streets?

Just Another day down Mexico way!!!!

Headless, mutilated bodies hung from Mexico bridge

Never happen, you say???

We didn't think we'd see Arizona ranchers like Rob Krentz slaughtered by Mexicans on his own land for only trying to aid one of them in need.

We didn't think we would ever see thousands of innocent children murdered and raped by aliens from south of the border while our leaders, like John McCain, sat silent for years.

We didn't think we would ever see US sovereign land cordoned off to US citizens because it's being occupied by foreign national criminals or hundreds of thousands of acres of land burned because Mexico's armed cartels set fire to it in our national forests while growing drugs.

But that's now the reality of the USA, as these foreign uninvited squatters march by the thousands demanding one thing after another in our streets.

After all, it's Mexico, so the prospect of corrupt Mexican police patrolling our streets may be overblown, but STRANGER things have happened!

You decide.

MEXICAN POLICE TO PATROL NY?
By Jeffrey Smith

NEW YORK, New York - In a series of events which has caused wide notice and a storm of protests, the government of Mexico, through its consulate in New York in the United Nations, has announced it will begin patrolling the New York City borough of Staten Island to "safeguard" its nationals there. The actions of Mexico come after a series of incidents the Mexican government terms "bias attacks."

Ironically, these so-called "hate crimes" have been perpetrated by blacks and Asians, indicative of rising tensions between various ethnic groups in the U.S. The Catholic Examiner and NBC New York both reported the Mexican government's intention to mount surveillance, patrol and police in and around the Staten Island community of Port Richmond, which in recent years
has seen a large influx of Mexican illegal immigrants.

Since the Examiner's coverage, however, councilor officials, city hall and the local press have begun to carefully de-emphasize any possible role of Mexican law enforcement or military in efforts to secure the neighborhood.

Mexican officials have set up a neighborhood office and local phone hot line for their nationals to report "bias incidents"-regardless as to whether they are in the United States legally.

The actions of the Mexican government have caused Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly to order what many observers say is the most concentrated
police mobilization since the World Trade Center disaster.

Both published reports and residents say that reports of fights between Mexicans and other groups began years ago, in the late 1990s or early 2000s. Many charge the present round of incidents started in 2003 with one loss of life in 2006, which might not even be connected to the present series of events.

At a major community gathering held at the historic St. Phillips Baptist Church, speakers addressed the current situation in the neighborhood and the borough, while Mexican councilor officials looked on.

But while the Richmond anti-violence organization and assorted left-leaning journalists who attended may have been expecting a mea culpa from local residents, what they got instead was a blast of community push-back. Speaker after speaker from the black community told of horrendous conditions the largely illegal immigrants had brought to their community. Speakers described the pattern in communities affected by an influx of illegals.

Community residents, many of whom are black first-time homeowners, told of constant disputes, alcohol and drug sales, late night disruptions, trespassing and public urination.

Others in the audience, who declined to testify, spoke of men wearing clothes bearing symbols of La Raza, Aztlan and other militant pro-Mexican groups.[snip]

El Universal (Mexico City) 8//22/10 - Increase in hate crimes against Mexicans

The Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) documented a series of “hate attacks” between September 2009 and July 2010 carried out against Mexicans who live and work in New York. Between April and July of this year, authorities have reported a total of 11 such attacks. The aggressors were mostly African American. One man attacked 11 months ago by three African Americans in Brooklyn, NY, only because he was Mexican, lost his ability to speak and walks with difficulty.

New York is only one place where racial tensions are rising. Five years ago, hundreds of undocumented Mexicans came to New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. They were well received because they provided cheap labor. Today things are different. A Republican legislator, Joe Harrison, renewed his attempt to introduce and pass a bill (HB 1215) that seeks to criminalize the presence of undocumented immigrants in Louisiana. It is the example of Arizona that ever more finds sympathizers among a population bothered by the presence of these same “illegals” and their families who, five years ago, rescued their city.

“These workers, mainly of Mexican origin, have changed the demographic complexion of New Orleans by converting it to a city where the enchilada has become as common as jambalaya,” asserted Jose Torres Tama, an Ecuadorian artist and writer who has resided in New Orleans since 1984.

NYPD boosts Staten Is. hate-crime patrols

NY Post, July 28, 2010

Cops last night beefed up patrols in parts of Staten Island as Mexican officials made plans to station a representative there to deal with a growing number of crimes against Hispanics -- most of them Mexican.

After meeting with Police Commissioner Ray Kelly yesterday, Mexican Consul General Ruben Beltran said he would assign someone to Port Richmond to assist Mexican residents.

The representative, police said, will encourage victims to step forward if they become crime victims, assuring them they will not face immigration problems if they report a crime.

Eleven people have been attacked this year, most recently Friday, when a Mexican immigrant was beaten while walking home from a soccer game. The attack left the man with a broken jaw.

None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. Eight suspects have been busted in three of the incidents.

____________

“We will act decisively in order to protect our citizens and will actively promote that those guilty of these vicious attacks are brought to justice expeditiously. We are working hand-in-hand with local authorities on all levels,” said Consul General of Mexico in New York, Ruben Beltran in an email to the Staten Island Advance.

German factory investigated for supposed sale of arms to Mexico

Berlin – German authorities opened a proceeding against the Heckler & Kochel arms factory for the presumed offense of illegal exportation of arms in 2006 to Mexican states with violent internal conflicts, according to the weekly edition of Der Spiegel. The investigation, led by the government attorney’s office and German Customs, is to determine if the factory violated the prohibition, in force in the country, to sell arms in zones of conflict. According to information, in 2006 the factory received official permission to sell “different Mexican national police” thousands of G36 assault rifles, the customary German Army weapon. The authorization supposedly excluded the areas of conflict such as the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Chihuahua and Jalisco. A year later, Heckler & Koch solicited another permit, this time to supply parts for those rifles “to clients with an established address” in those states. The investigation is in its initial stage.

John McCain - the WORST Senator money can buy!

John McCain???
Arizona, you can't be serious about reelecting this lying political hack???
WHO are you people?? Don't you remember he barely survived an Arizona recall effort?

Conservatives don't back him...Independents have finally wised up....when will you?
Liberal rags like the Washington Post and NY Times endorse McCain...why do suppose that is?

John McCain was NEVER an Arizonan...his wife's rich daddy bought him a congressional seat in Arizona and moved him there! He's just another carpetbagger.

Some ask how McCain can be doing as well as he is in this race..is it the 20 plus million dollars he's spent on distorted ads to defeat a legitimate opponent....he certainly didn't do that to beat Obama and the democrats!!!

J. D. Hayworth beats him hands down on the record on immigration, sovereignty, every conservative issue. J.D. also beat him in the debates....too bad you didn't listen!

J.D. Has a near perfect record for conservatism and actually showing up to do his job! And McCain....the MOST ABSENT member of the SENATE!....but then he can't be bothered with such nonsense when he's spent the last 2 decades on the campaign trial!

Money is a big part of it. Big donations by mobsters in Vegas, the La Raza crowd and private prisons who house illegal aliens ( Private prison builder GEO’s PAC gave only $5,000 each to the campaigns of Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Huckabee.

$500 to McCain several times was given by John Hurley, ceo GEO, who contributes BIG to
the open border loving RNC and Charlie Christ.

NOTE: Remember just a few days ago the prisoners who escaped one of McCain’s donor's private prisons in AZ??? This is a big scam to house illegal aliens and they are notorious for problems within them.

Lying is McCain’s hole card, always has been. By the time this election started, McCain had reinvented himself and his campaign website...’I’ve never been for amnesty, blah, blah, blah....’. He went so far in Tuscon recently to declare“President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong,”

Here’s another thing...he has purchased relevant keywords on the net, so no matter what you’re looking for you get his campaign websites.

The Search For A Candidate (from the pres primary, 2008)

[snip]McCain’s people say that every dollar they spend on online search advertising brings in three or four bucks.

The national polls don’t reflect it, but in one sense John McCain is the clear front runner in the presidential race: he leads in search-engine ads. When you type McCain’s name into Google, alongside or above the standard search results you’ll always get a text ad—a “sponsored link”—that leads you to a Web site soliciting campaign contributions for the Arizona senator. What happens when you type “Giuliani” into Google? You get a paid link to the former New York mayor’s site. But you also get a McCain ad.

The other obvious search words involve search terms people use when researching specific issues. Here again, McCain is busy; his people say that at various times they’ve bought 10,000 different words. Giuliani pops up with “flat tax” and “illegal immigrant.” But when I tried “universal health care,” nothing from any candidate came up. Vary it a little by typing “health care reform” and you get a paid link to … John McCain

Indeed, Sen. McCain has been on the stump in Arizona of late, telling everyone how he supports Arizona's SB 1070, how he wants to 'secure the border' and is against 'amnesty'.When you go to McCain's website, he'll tell you he NEVER supported AMNESTY.
Another lie! Just a few days ago, the bipartisan Immigration Reform Caucus, 76 members of the House of Representatives and five U.S. Senators have waded into the lawsuit by the Obama administration in U.S. vs. Arizona in support of Arizona.

Along with 81 congressmen, Rep. Duncan Hunter & Tom McClintock, R-California, signs Amicus Brief supporting Arizona Immigration Law, which includes 5 US Senators... Wicker, DeMint, Vitter, Inhofe, Barrasso, but NO John McCain!

I have strongly favored us using all the technical equipment that our military has including satellites, including aircraft and other technical means. May, 2001

Come on Arizona!! Don't let McCain fool you again, like he did in his so called
'presidential race'!

* May 29, 2003 interview: McCain: “Amnesty has to be an important part because there are people who have lived in this country for 20, 30 or 40 years, who have raised children here and pay taxes here and are not citizens.“

Negotiations between the White House and the leadership, which endorsed more limited immigration reform, have resulted in a compromise.... this bill makes meaningful but insufficient progress on amnesty for those wrongly denied it.

Q: Should we change our Constitution to allow men like Mel Martinez, born in Cuba and Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, to stand here some night as candidates for president?
McCAIN: He and I have many similar attributes, so I have to seriously consider it.

Alien Mexican Cartels occupy land all over the USA!

Yes, we know Arizona has land that has been given up to Mexico and it's Narcoterrorists, but it's not just along the border. It's true. Search just about any state and you'll find the story.
Many refuse to believe it, at the peril of all of us.
Private property rights??? Forget about it! Public property protected??? LOL!

Another Marijuana Farm Seized by Southern Utah Law Enorcement ...

KCSG - - 4 hours ago
(St. George, UT) – A 40-member law enforcement team seized over 3000 plants in another Marijuana growing farm near Central, Utah in ...Thursday's raid is the sixth this year in Washington County, Moss said. Last year, there were two.

California

For years TheTownCrier has been reporting the hundreds of thousands of acres of habitat that is destroyed, without a word from 'enviro friendly' non profits and misguided, corrupt politicians. Last year, in the LaBrea Fire, 88,000 acres were burned down by the same illegal alien narcoterrorists.
This today:
Man fatally shot by deputies during pot raid was armed with pellet gun
[snip]Scouting deep within the steep, wooded wilderness of the sprawling N3 Cattle Ranch on July 21, three deputies shot Jose Penaloza-Soto, a landscaper from East Palo Alto. Deputies reported that the camouflaged 28-year-old did not drop his weapon when they spotted him and called out orders in both English and Spanish. In fact, he seemed to be aiming what clearly looked like a hunting rifle at a group of Alameda County sheriff's deputies who were also on the raid. As officers advanced on the wounded man, he suddenly reached out to grab the dropped weapon and was shot once more, according to officials.

When they finally got to him, lying on a hillside of loose scree not far from an 18,000-plant illegal marijuana garden, Penaloza-Soto was dead.

Deputies estimate that there was about $60 million of marijuana ready for harvest within two well-hidden gardens nearby. Other suspects at the scene ran, deputies believe. Deputies heard them crashing away through the underbrush during the shooting. They have not been found.

The dead man's family declined to be interviewed. But sheriffs reported that he was a Mexican national, here for slightly longer than a decade. He had worked for years with no criminal problems as a landscaper in the San Francisco area. Recently, his family reported, he had grown quiet and distant.

Officers swarm 'marijuana megafarms' with suspected ties to Mexican drug cartels

Sept. 22, 2010 - Chasing some of the men as they fled along the Muskingum River, authorities arrested 10 Mexican nationals and charged them with conspiracy to cultivate marijuana in two carefully tended fields about 90 miles apart.

Authorities then arrested Hugo Ayala, 40, at his apartment on Columbus' North Side. They say he was the ringleader of a potentially multimillion-dollar operation that could be linked to Mexican drug cartels.

Ayala, a legal U.S. resident, is thought to have shuttled his work crews from Columbus to their duties in the marijuana fields both east and northwest of the city. ...men would camp out at the sites while working days a time. (THIS is what DHS is giving green cards out to!)

Wisconsin

'Marijuana Megafarm' Hidden In Wisconsin National ForestAug 12, 2010
[snip]Investigators say a band of Hispanic men turned the forest's southeastern tip into a giant pot farm, growing thousands of plants on remote plots, moving supplies along forgotten logging roads and buying supplies and ammunition at local stores.

Federal, state and local police spent June and July tailing suspected growers, following pickup trucks down abandoned logging roads and watching Hispanic men appear in the trees and toss nylon sacks resembling grain feed bags into the beds.

They followed one suspect to a Fleet Farm in Green Bay, where he purchased six pairs of pruning shears. They watched another man purchase 9 mm ammunition at a nearby Wal-Mart, documents said.

In Wisconsin, the number of seized plants in grew six-fold between 2003 and 2008, a year when more than 32,000 plants were seized

Drug investigators believe Mexican cartels are largely responsible for the spike. Growing the drug here helps them get it to major American markets more quickly. They often import unskilled laborers from Mexico to help find the best land and tend their crops.

Hidden in national forest: marijuana megafarm

In this Wednesday Aug. 11, 2010 photo, the men arrested in connection with marijuana farms that were raided by authorities in a national forest in northeast Wisconsin appear in federal court in Green Bay, Wis.

Cartel grow recruiters often look for people with family in Mexico so they can use them as leverage to keep the farmers working and quiet. If anyone betrays the farm, they go after the worker's family, intelligence experts say.

Two arrested in alleged pot-growing operation

[snip]One of two alleged marijuana growers captured by police late Tuesday night was armed with a loaded rifle when caught tending about 1,300 plants hidden in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, police say. ( Manuel C. Granados, 51, and Jose G. Perez, 36,)

In a similar case in Oregon on Wednesday morning, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed an armed man in a raid of an alleged Mexican cartel’s outdoor marijuana growing operation, according to a bulletin from the Oregon State Police.
Officials said Wednesday evening they didn’t yet know whether the suspects are in the U.S. legally. Perez also was being held for arrest warrants, issued in other areas, charging DUI and negligent driving.

Police say illegal pot farms causing potential harm to environment

[snip]There's no regard for the environment or maintaining public lands," said Special Agent Sue Thomas. "There's a lot of trash, a lot of garbage, fertilizer, chemicals. It's a hazard to the environment, a hazard to hikers."

Oregon

A public menace

[snip]Illegal marijuana plantations on government lands are expanding, putting forest users at risk, say Southern Oregon law officers.

Unlike domestic pot operations of years past, many of the plantations now growing on federal land are operated by Mexican drug-trafficking organizations who are well-financed and well-armed, the sheriffs said.

"The longer it goes on, the harder it will be for us to overcome," Winters told Walden. "They are better funded than us ... There are more of them than there are of us."

A separate 2008 NDIC report on cartel-related drug-trafficking organizations said the Federation cartel was active in Klamath Falls, and undetermined cartels were working in Medford and Roseburg.

The Justice Department's 2010 national drug threat assessment concluded the operations "constitute the greatest drug-trafficking threat" to the nation.

FLUSH the JOHN! McCain HAS to go!

LISTEN UP ARIZONA!!! DO NOT stick us with John McCain for another 6 years of flipflopping- amnesty loving nonsense!!!

FLUSH THE JOHN!

Johnny and Teddy were Senators
On opposite sides of the aisle
They got together and drafted a bill
Guaranteed to make illegals smile
Amnesty was their game – and they had no shame

Johnny and Senator Feingold
Gave campaign finance a try
But then the highest court in the land
Said the 1st amendment must apply
Gotta play by the rules – now Johnny looks like a fool

Johnny and Mr. Obama
They both agree Gitmo should close
But bringing terrorists into the USA
Is a plan that we oppose
No, they don’t belong – and Johnny’s got it all wrong

Now Johnny and Senator Lieberman
Got together on cap and trade
Anemic hands across the aisle
Gonna send the country to its grave
It’s time to let him know – old Johnny’s gotta go

Johnny believes Global Warming
Limousine Liberals and all
Congressional junkets to Copenhagen
Everybody’s havin’ a ball
Just ask Al Gore - Johnny knows the score

S & L Man Charlie Keating
He came to Johnny one day
Said “the government boys are sniffing around
How much to make ‘em go away?”
Did Johnny take a bribe to join the Keating 5?

Now fast-forward 20 years later
Banks are in trouble again
Johnny says, “Let’s bail ‘em out
It’s just a trillion – or maybe ten.
Let’s put some wind in their sails – ‘cause they’re too big to fail.”

We know there’s oil in Alaska
Drilling won’t cause any harm
But Johnny agrees with the tree-hugging geeks
Gas is gonna cost a leg and an arm
Johnny why can’t you see what’s good for you and me?

Now everyone knows about ACORN
They get lots of taxpayers’ dough
Prostitution rings and voter fraud
And home loans to any old schmoe
No matter ACORN’s crimes – Johnny thinks they’re just fine

We’re tired of hearin’ your flip-flops
We’re tired of hearin’ your lies
You may think we’re all dummies but you can’t
Pull the wool over our eyes
You’re career’s hit a snag - so start packin’ your bags

‘Cause Johnny, you’ve worn out your welcome
It’s time to bid DC goodbye
Go write a book or learn to cook
And eat a little humble pie
Just ask Sheriff Joe – he says you gotta go

Yeah, go Johnny, go – it’s time to hit the road.
Good-bye

Indians, Lobbyists and Arizona Politics...OH MY!

TheTownCrier

The scene is the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut . The year 2000.
The congressman has $100 chips stacked high, having a grand time at the crap table.
He likes to gamble and isn't afraid to show some temper when he loses.
Along for the ride are his campaign manager and one of the two biggest lobbyists handing out campaign money from various Indian tribes who was also a 20 year friend of the legislator.

By now we've all heard about the money J.D. Hayworth received from an Indian tribe by way of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who was one of the two big boys in Indian tribe money lobbying.

Pot, meet Kettle....

However, it was not J.D. Hayworth, nor Jack Abramoff at the crap table.
It was Senator John McCain, campaign manager and Indian lobbyist in his own right, Rick Davis, along with Scott Reed, now the one remaining big time lobbyist handling the tribes and their money.

National Review wrote:

“That would be this New York Times story, describing McCain playing the craps table with Rick Davis and Scott Reed. Davis is a longtime McCain friend and associate, currently his campaign manager, who runs a lobbying firm that represented Indian tribes with casino interests. Reed also worked as a lobbyist for Indian tribes, but he was also Bob Dole's campaign manager in 1996, where McCain is a top surrogate”
Another article further describes the scene.
McCain was betting at a casino he oversaw as a member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, and he was doing so with the lobbyist who represents that casino.
The visit had been arranged by the lobbyist, Scott Reed, who works for the Mashantucket Pequots, a tribe that has contributed heavily to McCain's campaigns and built Foxwoods into the world's second-largest casino. Joining them was Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager. Their night of good fortune epitomized not just McCain's affection for gambling, but also the close relationship he has built with the gambling industry and its lobbyists during his 25-year career in Congress.
As a two-time chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, McCain has done more than any other member of Congress to shape the laws governing America's casinos, helping to transform the once-sleepy Indian gambling business into a $26-billion-a-year behemoth with 423 casinos across the country.
As factions of the ferociously competitive gambling industry have vied for an edge, they have found it advantageous to cultivate a relationship with McCain or hire someone who has one, according to an examination based on more than 70 interviews and thousands of pages of documents.
McCain portrays himself as a Washington maverick unswayed by special interests, referring recently to lobbyists as "birds of prey." Yet in his current campaign, more than 40 fund-raisers and top advisers have lobbied or worked for an array of gambling interests - including tribal and Las Vegas casinos, lottery companies, and online poker purveyors.
When rules being considered by Congress threatened a California tribe's planned casino in 2005, McCain helped spare the tribe. Its lobbyist, who had no prior experience in the gambling industry, had a nearly 20-year friendship with McCain.

H
ayworth's explanation of the Abramoff contribution is spelled out by him here.
Hayworth got direct contributions of $2,250 from Abramoff, which was donated to charity, Hurricane Katrina relief. The Indian tribe in question insisted the money they gave by way of Abramoff be kept by Hayworth.

Hayworth's exoneration of any criminal charges, by the US Dept. of Justice is in a letter from them here.

The McCain campaign is trying to use this non issue to destroy Hayworth, while indulging in bigger tribe money and underhanded backroom deals far surpassing anything Jack Abramoff pulled.

McCain has been chair of the Indian affairs committee since 2005, having served on it for many years prior. He used this position to bring down Abramoff, who was second only to handing out tribe dollars to McCain's man Scott Reed. Some have speculated the move was not so much to rid politics of the likes of Abramoff, but to gain a monopoly on tribe campaign dollars. There's even a book, 'The Perfect Villain: John McCain and the Demonization of Jack Abramoff' speculating McCain's motives.

In one such article, Chuck Muth writes:
When stories of Jack Abramoff taking various Indian tribes to the cleaners first hit the press, McCain - Chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and author of the un-American, anti-free speech McCain-Feingold campaign censorship law - decided this would be an excellent opportunity to settle some old scores, help out some old pals, and do what Sen. McCain does best...get media attention for Sen. McCain.
As the Washington insider newspaper The Hill reported in March 2004, McCain wrote at least one letter on Senate letterhead praising Reed to one of Abramoff’s clients, the Saginaw Chippewa. Five days later, Abramoff was fired and the Saginaw Chippewa tribe retained Reed. In addition, columnist Bob Novak reported last December that on the eve of the investigation’s hearings, Reed handed some $200,000 in bundled contributions to McCain. Does this smell, or what?
The thing is, this McCain “investigation” looks like a real scandal in and of itself. If there are/were actual crimes involved, that’s what the Justice Department is for, not the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. Instead, McCain appears to be using his committee and his position to (a) grandstand for his 2008 presidential campaign, (b) pay back conservatives who opposed him in 2000, and (c) scratch the back of a well-heeled lobbyist who is scratching right back.

McCain/Feingold/Campaign Finance 'reform' , more than meets the eye.

In 2006, Amanda Carpenter of Human Events relays this story.

McCain’s Law Preserved Loophole for Tribal Contributions
Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.), chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, says the campaign finance reform law he sponsored in 2002 intentionally left open a loophole that allows Indian tribes to make campaign contributions to an unlimited number of candidates for federal office.
Before McCain’s law passed, most Americans were allowed to give an aggregate of only $25,000 to party committees and candidates for federal office in any two-year election cycle. Indian tribes were not subject to that cap. McCain’s law lifted the aggregate-contribution cap to $95,000 for ordinary American contributors, but declined to impose any cap at all on Indian tribes.
When I asked McCain last week why this was the case, he said, “Because tribes are ‘sovereign entities.’ They are treated on a government-to-government relationship, and we’re looking at that whole issue.”
I asked, “But it was an intentional thing?” McCain replied, “Oh yeah. … Because they are ‘sovereign nations’ unquote. We sign treaties with them.”
When I pointed out that the U.S. does not allow contributions from foreign governments, McCain said, “No, we don’t. But they’re American citizens. So, it’s a unique kind of a status.”
Evidently, Mr. McCain also believes he deserves 'a unique kind of status'. And why not be the 'anti-earmark' champion when there is a ready source of campaign income flowing from lobbyists controlling Indian money?

How very 'Maverick' of you, Senator McCain.

Is an Immigration bill coming to Oregon? Sal Esquivel

Is an immigration bill coming to Oregon?
KTVL Medford ^ | Aug. 8, 2010 | Katie Conner

MEDFORD ORE. – Sal Esquivel, supporter of Arizona's immigration bill, is now proposing his own bill to cut down on the number of illegal immigrants in Oregon.

“It's about a $7 million problem for taxpayers,” said Sal Esquivel.

Esquivel ‘s bill would require businesses to use e-verification, a system that uses an applicant' social security number, passport or green cards to verify that he or she is a legal citizen of the Untied States.

Employers who hire illegal workers would be disciplined.

Esquivel proposed the bill last legislative session but it got turned down.

Democratic Representative Peter Buckley says the bill will most likely be passed this time around.

“The only opposition would be with the agricultural interest,” said Buckley. “There is a concern about the work force in terms of just harvesting crops.”

According to Esquivel, stopping illegal immigration in Oregon would bring $1.4 billion of tax payer's money back to the state.

“It's hard to be an American and if you want to be an America, you better work at it,” said Esquivel. “If you want to come here and just use the system, I don't welcome you.”

A reader writes:

I saw Sal at a Freedom Works conference a few months ago. He talked about his father being a bracero & how he worked for 14 years to emigrate. Wouldn’t even let his kids speak Spanish at home, he was so proud of being an American.

Sal needs to add one thing to his bill, & that’s a requirement for state offices to verify the immigration status of anyone applying for aid. State law says they cannot receive benefits, but state workers are apparently told not to verify. Outrageous!
