Liz was appointed by Pres. G.W. Bush  in 2002 to the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs for 2 years then took a break to help with the re-election of her dad.
In 2005, she returned to the US State Department and was appointed the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State For Near Eastern Affairs and Coordinator for Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiatives.  In this position, Cheney supported and coordinated U.S. multilateral efforts to promote and support democracy, expanded education and economic opportunities in the Middle East and Northern Africa.   Cheney oversaw the launch of two semi-independent foundations for those areas, the Fund of the Future (worth $100 million), to provide capital for small businesses and the Foundation of the Future (worth $55 million), to promote freedom of the press and democracy.  In that capacity, Cheney endorsed a draft of a new Iraqi constitution.

The lady flat knows how to spend our money in places that hate us and I recall that many of us were unhappy with parts of that Iraqi constitution which instituted Islam as a state religion and called universal health care a 'right' among other questionable 'rules' and 'rights' .

Liz held an important 2nd position at State Dept. She is typical of the people retired Rep. Duncan Hunter called "Knuckleheads at the department of State" during the time she served.  This is also the same time when Bush's  State Dept. allowed 'refugees' like the tens of thousands of Somali's  and others generously brought to our country,  who now cause so many problems.

 One has only to remember the recent history  of  those lovely Chechan Boston bombing brother refugees, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to know how many bad apples the State Department  ushered in while Liz Cheney was close to the helm.

Cheney signed on in June 2007 to serve as one of three national co-chairs for Fred Thompson's 2008 presidential campaign. Another co-chair was Spencer Abraham, who once hired Cesar Conda as his chief of staff as he now holds the same position for Marco Rubio.   After Thompson dropped out of the race, Cheney announced that she would work for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, serving as a senior foreign policy advisor.   Cesar Conda also worked as an advisor for Romney in his last run and was a mentor to Paul Ryan.

That is Mrs. Philip Perry.   Liz Cheney is the mother of his five children, who had been accused of corruption and cronyism and said a few years ago, "The term 'revolving door' implies people going in and out of government in order to obtain monetary gain. The reason people go into government is to serve their country. It's not appropriate to describe that as a 'revolving door.'"

It details nefarious dealings when Perry was general counsel of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), another powerful Bush/Cheney appointment.

The point here is that the OMB is supposed to be impartial, a 'guide' to the administration, not to make policy decisions at the VP's behest!   When you're running an administration that isn't corrupt you don't appoint a relative as a watchdog! HELLO!

We will likely never know how deeply Perry was buried in the pathetic prosecution and imprisonment of these two border agents for doing their jobs.   We do know of other problems  he handled for DHS that point directly to him.

Illegal Alien Pleads Guilty to Gang Rape in Michigan 

On Monday, Felipe Lopez-Velasquez, 17, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual conduct and robbery in a Kent County courtroom for a gang rape which occurred on September 10.



Lopez-Velasquez, along with an accomplice repeatedly raped a 21-year-old Grand Valley University student at a Grand Rapids bus stop.
The pair grabbed the victim as she was exiting a bus in a Southside neighborhood.
WOOD-TV reported:
“ In a sworn affidavit, a Grand Rapids detective said that a composite sketch led to tips that identified Lopez-Velasquez. The detective said that the 21-year-old victim and a witness picked Lopez-Velasquez out of a police lineup.
A prosecutor recommended that a judge sentence Felipe Lopez-Velasquez, who was 16 at the time of the incident, to six years and nine months to 11 years and three months in prison at the minimum. He was charged as an adult.
Lopez-Velasquez is scheduled to be sentenced on August 15.
His accomplice, Marco Vazquez, 14, was also charged as an adult, and has already pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual assault and robbery. He is currently serving a five-year sentence.

One internal document obtained by the Los Angeles Times shows how deadly Fast and Furious was and continues to be with the death Luis Lucio Rosales Astorga, police chief in the city of Hostotipaquillo. He was shot to death Jan. 29 when gunmen intercepted his patrol car and opened fire. A bodyguard was also killed.
A semi-automatic WASR rifle, the firearm that killed the chief, was traced back to the Lone Wolf Trading Company, a gun store in Glendale, Ariz. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) allowed illegal purchasers to buy the firearms at the Lone Wolf store in the Phoenix suburb and other gun shops in the Southwest.

Here, in April of 2009, Atty. Gen. Eric Holder was in Mexico bragging about how much taxpayer money he's going to spend on Project Gun Runner! Just last week he acted like he had never heard of it!

Holder: "Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. DHS is making similar commitments, as Secretary Napolitano will detail."

"Follow the money!"

Some enterprising citizen reporters have some good facts here!

This is a SCANDAL like we've never seen. Mexico is angry...this
administration will give them EVERYTHING (translation: AMNESTY,
billions more of YOUR dollars, not prosecuting Mexico's criminals...)
to cover this up!

Operation Gunrunner was funded by the 2009 Stimulus Package

I remember seeing Project Gunrunner in a bill that was discussed
here. The original thread about it was a rumor thread that HR45 had
been rolled into the stimulus package.

In that thread I scanned the text of H.R.1 American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009 for gun, firearm, etc and came up with a hit.

I posted in the thread: "Only time “gun” or “firearm” appears is in
the part that give $10,000,000 to the ATF for Project Gunrunner. That
was H.R. 495, asking for 15,000,000 for Gunrunner".

H.R. 495 that I mentioned never made it out of committee, but it looks
as it was to specifically fund Gunrunner.

Instead portions of it were rolled into the stimulus package a month
later. That text found in H.R.1 is:

For an additional amount for ‘State and Local Law Enforcement
Assistance’, $40,000,000, for competitive grants to provide assistance
and equipment to local law enforcement along the Southern border and
in High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas to combat criminal narcotics
activity stemming from the Southern border, of which $10,000,000 shall
be transferred to ‘Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and
Explosives, Salaries and Expenses’ for the ATF Project Gunrunner.

Notice that's $40,000,000 for Southern border enforcement, $10,000,000
of which specifically for Project Gunrunner. What does $10 million pay
for here? It didn't hire any new agents that I am aware of.

If you ever watch video or look at pictures of Mexican drug wars, you
see some pretty heavy weapons. It is a war being waged with rockets
and plastic explosives, not pea shooters and Saturday Night Specials.

Consider these incidents:- A M26A2 fragmentation grenade used against
a U.S. Consulate in Mexico in 2008 - Explosive projectiles and 21
grenades found during a raid in Guadalupe - An unexploded grenade and
pull ring used to attack a TV station in Monterrey - Automatic
weapons, including U.S.-made M16s, found at a cartel crime scene in
May 2009- U.S. military-issued ammunition found in a cartel raid in
Reynosa in November 2008. You can't buy this stuff at a U.S. gun
store. So where do the cartels get it?

According to leaked diplomatic cables, there are three sources.

1. US Defense Department shipments to Latin America, known and tracked
by the US State Department as "foreign military sales."

2. Weapons ordered by the Mexican government, tracked by the State
Department as "direct commercial sales."

3. Aging, but plentiful arsenals of military weapon stores in
Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Even though these facts were well-known by the Obama administration,
including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Attorney General Eric
Holder, it blamed much of the violence in Mexico on US gun shops.
"More than 90% of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United
States, many from gun shops that line our border," President Obama
said in February 2009.

districts out of more than 130,000 stimulus grants. On Monday night,
ABC reported on errors found on the website set up by the White House
to track the number of jobs created or saved by the economic stimulus
program. The website was riddled with reports of jobs in places that
didn't even exist. That report prompted anger on Capitol Hill, and
defensiveness at the White House. On Tuesday night's broadcast, ABC's

Local TV in Arizona has reported that on Thursday, July 7, 2011, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, with Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin and Drug Czar Gil Kerlikowske, will be announcing the 2011 Southwest Border Counternarcotics Strategy in Nogales, Ariz.

I wonder to the extent Secretary Napolitano will acknowledge Operation Fast and Furious as one of many failed – in fact neglectful – programs from last year. Yet, Attorney General Holder, who has current oversight over Operation Fast and Furious, will not be joining Secretary Napolitano to add to the transparency of the discussion regarding this horrid operation, let alone fill out the details on the rest of the counternarcotics strategy, which typically includes a large cache of work for federal prosecutors dealing with the cartel's criminal, immigration and smuggling activities, alongside the FBI and DEA's activities. How convenient. The secretary can buck the questions regarding the ATF, FBI, DEA, and all other highly pertinent counternarcotics strategy questions because it is not within her jurisdiction.

Maybe I'll be wrong. Yet unless the Attorney General is a surprise guest, I doubt this press conference will be more than the rhetoric the secretary herself complains about incessantly. Nor will we learn how the ugly operations of cartels are being stemmed in any real way.
