Who is more conservative -- John McCain, or his primary rival, J.D. Hayworth?

From the American Thinker: Who is more conservative -- John McCain, or his primary rival, J.D. Hayworth? Hayworth officially announced his candidacy for the Senate on Monday. The Arizona Republic reported that
McCain has been portraying Hayworth as one of the big-spending Republicans who, during President George W. Bush's two terms, largely squandered the party's reputation for fiscal discipline.
Both men have served in Congress for multiple terms. J.D. Hayworth was in the House of Representatives from 1995 to 2007. Their voting records have been scored. So who is more conservative?
The table below summarizes these standings.

ACU lifetime score McCain

81.43 - Hayworth 97.56

NJ 2006 composite score McCain

56.7 - Hayworth 85

NJ economic score McCain
64- Hayworth 80

ACU ranking McCain Top32%
- Hayworth Top 4%

NJ ranking McCain Top 46%

-Hayworth Top 11%
McCain, the "maverick," has been in Congress for 28 years, or since winning his first election in 1982. He is no longer fighting the establishment; he is the establishment. He personifies the compromise wing of the Republican Party, which has since become the dominant wing.

Our good friends at NAFBPO sent out this alarming report today. Keep in mind that our national forests are already being burned down by terrorists.....Armed Mexican Drug Cartels....as evidenced by the LaBrea fire last summer, taking down 88,000 acres.

WARNING: Use of Terror Arson Against US Forests

14 Feb 2010

The following Alert is brought to you courtesy of the Targeted Actionable Monitoring Center of the Institute of Terrorism Research and Response

Intent:

To provide guidance on terrorist's refocused attention on the use of arson against forests in CONUS (Continental United States).

Threat Classification:

MODERATE (Level 3) Available intelligence and recent events indicate that hostile elements have the capability to take action against the target and that such action is within the adversary's current intent. It is assessed that an attack or action is likely to be a priority and might well be mounted.

Justification:

Arabic language researchers of the Targeted Actionable Monitoring Center (TAM-C) have identified jihadist communications providing targeting guidance on the use of forest fires as a tool to damage the economy of the United States. The targeting advice includes the statement that "it would be one of the simplest sabotage actions to carry out."

TAM-C analysts note that the tactic of using forest fires as a weapon against the US has been raised before. Previous suggestions had also included the use of forest fires against European countries. The previous targeting guidance had referred to the tactic as "Global Fire."

TAM-C analysts note that the weapon of forest fires has previously been used by terror organizations within Israel.

The targeting advise included, "There should be a number of spots to the fires and they should be distant from each other. In this way the effort to extinguish them will spread over large areas, a fact which will make it harder for the [fire brigade] forces to succeed in their mission."

The tactical advise included, "The mujahid must merely make a reconnaissance patrol to view the ground, which will make it easier for him to choose the optimal area and time, for example one of the hot summer nights. And one may set fire [to the forest] from a distance in the same way a charge may be set off, only this time instead of explosives one must put fuel."

Conclusion:

TAM-C analysts note that the pre-operational surveillance of a potential target area may be conducted as part of a routine hike. However, identification of such pre-operational surveillance is critical to disrupting planned terror operations using forest fires as a weapon.

TAM-C analysts recommend that agencies responsible for the fighting of such fires confirm communications capabilities in advance of "fire season."

Hayworth creams McCain in AZ GOP insider straw poll - 68% to 10.5%.

No wonder J.D. Hayworth was encouraged to run! 68% to 10.5%.

An overlooked headline:

J.D. Hayworth creams McCain in straw poll at Maricopa County Rep. Party annual meeting — sources / A more conservative Party

Multiple sources are reporting that JD Hayworth overwhelming beat Senator John McCain among the Republican faithful at the Maricopa County Republican Committee elections today.

The straw poll showed that the former congressman and conservative, JD Hayworth, beat Arizona’s senior senator 68% to 10.5%. The poll reflects the growing dissatisfaction by grassroots and elected precinct committeemen even in John McCain’s home county.JD Hayworth

This poll also mirrors the results of an earlier poll conducted by Scott Rasmussen in which JD Hayworth was within striking distance of John McCain 45 to 43 percent. (Rasmussen Reports, November 20, 2009)[snip]

Mexico seeks to improve its image abroad

The parliamentary group of Mexico’s PAN Party is supporting a plan by the federal government to promote an improvement of Mexico’s image abroad. The country’s image has suffered and become negative due to news about massacres, violence and the war against crime. The government has asked consultants for projects to rehabilitate and improve its image. (But one reader commented: “The first thing that has to be changed is the enormous corruption among officials, politicians, judges, magistrates, etc., etc., and therefore, that of many citizens also equally accomplices in corruption.)

—————————

Milenio (Mexico City) 2/11/10

“The national rot” [op/col. by Roman Revueltas, titled as above]

For years we thought that the nation’s affairs could be managed any old way – with negligence and dishonestly (“they steal but they know how to govern”, “you and I can fix this, officer, tell me how much”, “just put me wherever and I’ll take care of the rest”… etcetera) – and when we woke up from the nap it turned out that Mexico had become an ungovernable jungle, a territory inhabited by bloody savages, a nation of thieves and of nuisance politicians, one that doesn’t even guarantee the very least to the great majority of its residents.

And so, let’s see now who is the courageous one who fixes things in Ciudad Juarez. The day before yesterday, for example, some low class fellows let loose two gunshots at a student who was driving his car to college. Why? Well, because the young fellow was laughing. I say, he was happy. Why are you laughing? they spat. He must’ve answered something, or maybe he didn’t say anything, or he kept on laughing or perhaps he looked at them in an unfriendly way, or he didn’t look at them at all or he scratched his ear or put on a scared expression….. Bang! Take that, two shots to the head, so you’ll go on laughing in the other world, and you’re lucky because no one has come back to tell us how things are going in the great beyond.

I don’t believe I’ve heard such terrible news in recent times: the event shows the most terrifying disdain for human life and, as an absurd manifestation of pure chance clothed in fatality, it embodies the most extreme vulnerability of the innocent citizen who, simply by going out of his home to live his life, meets with misfortune.

Where are we, what country do we live in, what kind of people are we, who are we? Or, better yet, who are those, those soulless assassins of women and young people, those dehumanized and vile barbarians who, nevertheless, have residence rights in a city without authority, without order and without justice? Where did they come from? We don’t want to know. But, look here, they represent the most extreme face of the national rot. And we can no longer look elsewhere. They are already here.

There is Hope!! J.D. Hayworth challenges McAmnesty

There is hope!

We wake up to the good news that J.D. Hayworth, radio show host and former congressman, will challenge John McCain in Arizona for the US Senate.

McCain has Sarah Palin stumping for him, so it's fair to conclude from her confusing statements that she agrees with McCain's amnesty for 20 million illegal alien lawbreakers.

McCain also has the money machine behind him along with La Raza and the democrats.

This will be a tough battle. J.D., being a proponent and activist in securing our borders was not helped by the GOP in his last run, and he won't be helped by the squatter support squad of the GOP this time. But J.D. has the tea party movement and the support of the American people!

Blast from the past, words from J.D. Hayworth:

“When you see the Mexican flags and other flags - rather than American flags - being hoisted at these demonstrations, you essentially are getting this message: ‘Yes, we are here illegally. No, we do not believe this to be your country. We do not believe in your laws . . . and we don’t believe you’re going to do anything about it.’” - Rep. J.D. Hayworth (AZ-R) -

However, Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) has taken the lead in the fight to stop the U.S.-Mexico totalization agreement from taking effect. He has introduced H. Res. 20, a resolution of disapproval in the House.

REP. J.D. HAYWORTH, (R) ARIZONA: If there are so-called good people overstaying their visas, there are really bad people too. And more than just your garden variety of criminal, probably in that group, sad to say, are those folks who belong to terrorist cells who mean to do us harm.

Indians, Lobbyists and Arizona Politics...OH MY!

TheTownCrier

The scene is the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut . The year 2000.
The congressman has $100 chips stacked high, having a grand time at the crap table.
He likes to gamble and isn't afraid to show some temper when he loses.
Along for the ride are his campaign manager and one of the two biggest lobbyists handing out campaign money from various Indian tribes who was also a 20 year friend of the legislator.

By now we've all heard about the money J.D. Hayworth received from an Indian tribe by way of disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, who was one of the two big boys in Indian tribe money lobbying.

Pot, meet Kettle....

However, it was not J.D. Hayworth, nor Jack Abramoff at the crap table.
It was Senator John McCain, campaign manager and Indian lobbyist in his own right, Rick Davis, along with Scott Reed, now the one remaining big time lobbyist handling the tribes and their money.

National Review wrote:

“That would be this New York Times story, describing McCain playing the craps table with Rick Davis and Scott Reed. Davis is a longtime McCain friend and associate, currently his campaign manager, who runs a lobbying firm that represented Indian tribes with casino interests. Reed also worked as a lobbyist for Indian tribes, but he was also Bob Dole's campaign manager in 1996, where McCain is a top surrogate”
Another article further describes the scene.
McCain was betting at a casino he oversaw as a member of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, and he was doing so with the lobbyist who represents that casino.
The visit had been arranged by the lobbyist, Scott Reed, who works for the Mashantucket Pequots, a tribe that has contributed heavily to McCain's campaigns and built Foxwoods into the world's second-largest casino. Joining them was Rick Davis, McCain's campaign manager. Their night of good fortune epitomized not just McCain's affection for gambling, but also the close relationship he has built with the gambling industry and its lobbyists during his 25-year career in Congress.
As a two-time chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, McCain has done more than any other member of Congress to shape the laws governing America's casinos, helping to transform the once-sleepy Indian gambling business into a $26-billion-a-year behemoth with 423 casinos across the country.
As factions of the ferociously competitive gambling industry have vied for an edge, they have found it advantageous to cultivate a relationship with McCain or hire someone who has one, according to an examination based on more than 70 interviews and thousands of pages of documents.
McCain portrays himself as a Washington maverick unswayed by special interests, referring recently to lobbyists as "birds of prey." Yet in his current campaign, more than 40 fund-raisers and top advisers have lobbied or worked for an array of gambling interests - including tribal and Las Vegas casinos, lottery companies, and online poker purveyors.
When rules being considered by Congress threatened a California tribe's planned casino in 2005, McCain helped spare the tribe. Its lobbyist, who had no prior experience in the gambling industry, had a nearly 20-year friendship with McCain.

H
ayworth's explanation of the Abramoff contribution is spelled out by him here.
Hayworth got direct contributions of $2,250 from Abramoff, which was donated to charity, Hurricane Katrina relief. The Indian tribe in question insisted the money they gave by way of Abramoff be kept by Hayworth.

Hayworth's exoneration of any criminal charges, by the US Dept. of Justice is in a letter from them here.

The McCain campaign is trying to use this non issue to destroy Hayworth, while indulging in bigger tribe money and underhanded backroom deals far surpassing anything Jack Abramoff pulled.

McCain has been chair of the Indian affairs committee since 2005, having served on it for many years prior. He used this position to bring down Abramoff, who was second only to handing out tribe dollars to McCain's man Scott Reed. Some have speculated the move was not so much to rid politics of the likes of Abramoff, but to gain a monopoly on tribe campaign dollars. There's even a book, 'The Perfect Villain: John McCain and the Demonization of Jack Abramoff' speculating McCain's motives.

In one such article, Chuck Muth writes:
When stories of Jack Abramoff taking various Indian tribes to the cleaners first hit the press, McCain - Chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and author of the un-American, anti-free speech McCain-Feingold campaign censorship law - decided this would be an excellent opportunity to settle some old scores, help out some old pals, and do what Sen. McCain does best...get media attention for Sen. McCain.
As the Washington insider newspaper The Hill reported in March 2004, McCain wrote at least one letter on Senate letterhead praising Reed to one of Abramoff’s clients, the Saginaw Chippewa. Five days later, Abramoff was fired and the Saginaw Chippewa tribe retained Reed. In addition, columnist Bob Novak reported last December that on the eve of the investigation’s hearings, Reed handed some $200,000 in bundled contributions to McCain. Does this smell, or what?
The thing is, this McCain “investigation” looks like a real scandal in and of itself. If there are/were actual crimes involved, that’s what the Justice Department is for, not the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. Instead, McCain appears to be using his committee and his position to (a) grandstand for his 2008 presidential campaign, (b) pay back conservatives who opposed him in 2000, and (c) scratch the back of a well-heeled lobbyist who is scratching right back.

McCain/Feingold/Campaign Finance 'reform' , more than meets the eye.

In 2006, Amanda Carpenter of Human Events relays this story.

McCain’s Law Preserved Loophole for Tribal Contributions
Sen. John McCain (R.-Ariz.), chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee, says the campaign finance reform law he sponsored in 2002 intentionally left open a loophole that allows Indian tribes to make campaign contributions to an unlimited number of candidates for federal office.
Before McCain’s law passed, most Americans were allowed to give an aggregate of only $25,000 to party committees and candidates for federal office in any two-year election cycle. Indian tribes were not subject to that cap. McCain’s law lifted the aggregate-contribution cap to $95,000 for ordinary American contributors, but declined to impose any cap at all on Indian tribes.
When I asked McCain last week why this was the case, he said, “Because tribes are ‘sovereign entities.’ They are treated on a government-to-government relationship, and we’re looking at that whole issue.”
I asked, “But it was an intentional thing?” McCain replied, “Oh yeah. … Because they are ‘sovereign nations’ unquote. We sign treaties with them.”
When I pointed out that the U.S. does not allow contributions from foreign governments, McCain said, “No, we don’t. But they’re American citizens. So, it’s a unique kind of a status.”
Evidently, Mr. McCain also believes he deserves 'a unique kind of status'. And why not be the 'anti-earmark' champion when there is a ready source of campaign income flowing from lobbyists controlling Indian money?

How very 'Maverick' of you, Senator McCain.

We stood by Arizona & They gave us 6 more years of McCain!!!

What can I say? I give McLiar a week before he starts the pandering to foreign nationals and their big dollars.

Here's the reaction to the Arizona Senate race from Conservatives, who sum it all up!

BREAKING: McCain Wins Primary (Idiot Republicans on Parade) Tue Aug 24

ex-snook: The lesson of elections is - you can’t bring an idea to a money fight. He who pays the media calls the tune.

doc1019: How can a state that is willing to fight the President over illegal immigrants continue to elect this idiot RINO.

Boucheau: Thank you Sarah Palin! Well done, you hack!
Not to mention all the GOP-bots out there—you are about as useful as Obama voters.
The Commie-Lite GOP Establishment wins again!

who knows what evil?: The pig McCain will probably beat the democrat by 20%; so it might be interesting to see 'None of the Above' pull 10-15% in November.
McCain...no need to worry about an Obama presidency, my ass...thanks for ruining my country, dipstick.

GinaLolaB : I don't want to hear Hannity or Limbaugh whining when John McCain starts stabbing us in the back again. They never helped Hayworth at all. Wow!

KTM rider: this is so depressing I dont know if i can get out of bed to vote republican come november........why bother its like a choice of "socialist" or "socialist light" and Palin is like a character from some kind of a saturday night live skit, like some cruel joke that flirts with reality.

VRWC: Bad night for America. DC will never fear us at the voting booth. Dark, violent, times ahead. AZ gets the open, crime ridden, border they deserve with this vote.

Jake from AZ: In case you can’t tell from today’s election results, we’re all a bunch of f___ing idiots down here. That may also have been a factor. The American Dream, which is to say the classical liberal dream, is officially deader than dog$#!+.
AND a special thank you from INFORMED Americans to J.D. Hayworth:

Mr. Hayworth, you quit your job and entered this race because WE ASKED YOU to, when no one else had the cajones to challenge John McCain's politically corrupt machine. You walked the talk, as you always have and we appreciate it.

BY THE WAY......
It appears Newmax has gone to the dark side......Last week they invited Bill Clinton to their offices as a 'special guest', and now this.......

More than 28,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico over the last four years.

Troops raided the ranch, launching an aerial assault. They arrested one underage suspect, military said.

Michelle Obama Declares it Safe to Travel to Mexico - NOT SATIRE

Here is video of First Lady Michelle Obama in an interview from Mexico City, where she declared it to be safe to travel to Mexico. She said she would encourage Americans to come to Mexico.

This despite the fact that 23,000 people have been killed in drug violence in Mexico in the last three years.

I declare Mexico "Vacation Safe!"

Yes, that MEXICO is such a lovely place, Michelle...SHEEESH!

El Debate (Sinaloa) 4/13/10 Official death count

According to official figures, violence linked to organized crime in Mexico has left more than 22,700 dead since December, 2006, when President Felipe Calderon launched the offensive against the drug cartels. In a confidential report delivered to legislators, the Calderon government advised that only between January and March, 2010, a total of 3,365 assassinations have been reported and that 2009 has been the most violent year, with 9,635 such murders. The northern border state of Chihuahua has been the most affected, having reported 6,757 assassinations since December, 2006, with its border city of Juarez contributing 4,324 of those. Other border areas, mainly Tamaulipas state, have reported increasing violence in the past few weeks. The detailed report can be accessed at:

HEADS UP, CALIFORNIA!
We have an exciting candidate for Attorney General that should get your notice.

John Eastman has spent a lifetime fighting for the values that define conservatism and the rule of law. After four years of Jerry Brown, I can think of no one I would rather have as Attorney General than John Eastman.” Tom McClintock Member of Congress

On the issues:

Illegal Immigration

One of the primary causes of overcrowding in our state prisons is the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants housed in state prisons. These are criminals who already violated the law by entering California illegally, and then further committed crimes serious enough to warrant time in state prison. Their mere presence in California prisons is a reflection of the federal government’s failure to control our borders. John will press, and if necessary, sue the federal government to make then pay California back for the billions we spend incarcerating illegal immigrant prisoners.

Great interview about immigration with Terry Anderson & Dr. Eastman HERE.

Economic Freedom, Property Rights & Lawsuit Abuse

John Eastman believes the law, properly applied, can be a force for getting California’s economy back on track. Frivolous lawsuits clog our courts, cost legitimate businesses billions of dollars, and make the cost of hiring new employees a risky proposition. John has defended small businesses against burdensome government regulation, churches against abusive zoning and eminent domain condemnation efforts, and land owners against expansive and unconstitutional interpretations of environmental laws.

Beware: Rinos in Conservative clothing...DICK ARMEY

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party
over to the traitors in the battle just ended.
We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged
to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support.
Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates
wouldn’t make any sense at all.""

-- President Ronald Reagan

Time to listen up, Tea Party people!!! We've warned you before that political opportunists will hi- jack your movement for their causes! And Dick Armey did just that!

"In a telephone interview with The Arizona Republic, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, FreedomWorks' chairman, delivered a surprisingly harsh assessment of Hayworth, with whom he served on Capitol Hill:

" It's hard for us to believe that J.D. Hayworth could mount a credible challenge to John McCain. Obviously, we'll watch the race. But J.D. had a fairly short, undistinguished congressional career with virtually no initiative on his part. I just don't see any reason why we should be concerned about that race."

So...what is this really all about??

AMNESTY, that's what.

Armey is one of the squatter support squad of the GOP. He wants to do away with enforcement. He wants amnesty. That's why he won't support Hayworth.
In fact, Armey wants to increase immigration!

The McCain camp likes to throw the non issue Abramoff accusation at J.D. of which he was totally cleared, but one of Armey's top advisers, Horace Cooper, actually got indicted for taking Abramoff bribes. OH! The irony!

We're still waiting for Sarah Palin to stop hedging on this issue and tell us what she really thinks. Yes, we keep waiting for her to deny all the statements where she approves of McCain's amnesty! Here, she even approves of the bailouts!

"This is crisis moment for America. ....Looking to see what the impacts will be if America were to choose not to shore up what has happened on Wall Street because of the…the ultimate adverse effects on Main Street and then how that effects this globalisation that we’re a part of on… in our world. So the rest of the world really is looking at John McCain – the leadership that he’s gonna provide through this and if those provisions in the proposal can be implemented and make this proposal better make it make more sense to taxpayers than again, John McCain is gonna prove his leadership."

TRACKBACK:

I got one of Dick Armey's mass emails today about the march in DC which his group helped to promote. He says, "WE DID IT".
My reply:

WE???? MR.ARMEY!
95% of those people oppose your soft stand on illegal immigration and AMNESTY!
You should be ashamed of hijacking this movement, you were one of millions promoting this rally.
You're fooling them, just like Obama fooled his voters....they don't know you that well.
And you should have listened to Milton Friedman, when he looked you in the eye and told you that NAFTA was NOT Free Trade, it is 'managed trade'. QUOTE!.... "managed'' just like Obama wants the government to 'manage' everything!

Go J.D. Go!

STUFF & News YOU missed!

Those of us who actually pay attention to 'current events' all feel like Sheldon Cooper.

The White House, Democrats and some 'Republicans' met to work out health care today.

It was the usual 'Obama-shamabama' shuffle and jive show.

I’ve been listening to Hannity. Naturally, Sean is having McCain on his show tonight...like the old traitor doesn’t get enough air time on CBS!

Which side are you on, Mr. Hannity??

How about putting on an actual conservative instead of your usual Rove, Gingrich, McCain Rino-Fest?

I’ve listened to McCain’s little speeches during this health care forum.

Not one word about ‘CHOICE’.....our choice of doctors, medical insurance, etc. But then John doesn’t care if we have a choice. And 'choice' for democrats is exclusive to abortion or sexual preference.

Hannity needs to stop propping up this old fool. It helps none of us.It would be nice if Hanniy would ask McCain why he introduced this recent monstrosity!

But he won’t.

Minority Advocates, Constituents Differ on Immigration - Zogby poll

Zogby Finds Wide Support for Enforcement, Lower legal entry Numbers - Feb. 25, 2010

The overall findings of this poll show a significant divide between the perception that minority voters want legalization and increased legal immigration and the reality, which is that they want enforcement and less immigration

In contrast to the leadership of many ethnic advocacy groups, most members of minority groups think immigration is too high.

* Hispanics: 56 percent said it is too high; 7 percent said too low; 14 percent just right. * Asian-Americans: 57 percent said immigration is too high; 5 percent said too low; 18 percent just right. * African-Americans: 68 percent said it is too high; 4 percent said too low; 14 percent just right.

Most members of minority groups do not feel that illegal immigration is caused by limits on legal immigration as many ethnic advocacy groups argue; instead, members feel it’s due to a lack of enforcement.

* Hispanics: Just 20 percent said illegal immigration was caused by not letting in enough legal immigrants; 61 percent said inadequate enforcement. * Asian-Americans: 19 percent said not enough legal immigration; 69 percent said inadequate enforcement. * African-Americans: 16 percent said not enough legal immigration; 70 percent said inadequate enforcement.

Most members of minority groups feel that there are plenty of Americans available to fill unskilled jobs.

"In contrast to the leadership of many ethnic advocacy groups, most members of minority groups think immigration is too high."

"immigration is caused by limits on legal immigration as many ethnic advocacy groups argue; instead, members feel it’s due to a lack of enforcement."[snips]

This is a raw and bad joke on the American people. 3.6 million Visa overstays!

LOU DOBBS/BrokenBorders/Cnn
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0510/24/ldt.01.html
Aired Oct. 24, 2005

And millions of foreigners in this country illegally, not because they crossed our borders illegally, but because their visas have expired. You'll be shocked -- I think you will be shocked to hear just how few immigration officials we have assigned to track down all of those people with expired visas.

CHRISTINE ROMANS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Visa holders who overstay exit date in this country can easily disappear into American life with little risk from immigration authorities. A report from the Homeland Security inspector general estimates at least 3.6 million illegal aliens are people here who overstayed their visas. Yet last year, there were only 51 agents dedicated to tracking visa violators.

REP. J.D. HAYWORTH, (R) ARIZONA: If there are so-called good people overstaying their visas, there are really bad people too. And more than just your garden variety of criminal, probably in that group, sad to say, are those folks who belong to terrorist cells who mean to do us harm.

ROMANS: Immigration and Customs Enforcement received more than 300,000 leads last year on visa violators. The inspector general found authorities investigated just over 4,000 and apprehended only 671.

The report found, quote, "efforts to identify visa violators and overstays results in few apprehensions. And actual removal of visa violators is minuscule." ICE counters that it's numbers are slightly higher. It says its apprehended 1400 visa violators and thousands of additional investigations are under way.

Still, the inspector general found investigations, when they occur, can take up to two months because of vague performance measures and inefficiency in the work flow process. Work flow in the two-year- old agency that looks like this.

The report finds "these delays allow visa violators to avoid apprehension and disappear into the U.S. population."

ICE defends its compliance enforcement unit by saying it was created only after September 11 to target national security threats.

Quote, "there are millions of leads, where do you start? With a dishwasher or with someone with a HAZMAT license and access to a port?"

ROMANS: ICE says the unit has apprehended a fuel truck driver with a HAZMAT license and a member of a terrorist organization and wanted sex offenders. ICE says, at the time of the inspector general's report last year, the agency was funded for only 50 positions to track down the high risk visa violators. Today there are more than 230 personnel in that unit.

And, ICE says, contrary to the inspector general's report, this unit is not the only one arresting visa violators, they say any immigration agent can. But keep in mind, there are at least 3.6 million people in this country who overstayed their visa a couple of hundred, a couple of thousand agents, you're not going to do much good on that.

DOBBS: Our federal employees do a magnificent job, but to ask 51 or 70 or 200 and some odd men and women to go after 3.6 million illegal aliens who have overstayed their visa, the visa that have expired, that absurdity even by federal government standards.

ROMANS: And Congressman J.D. Hayworth pointed out, it's public policy triage that they have to just go after the high risk individuals, because there are simply so many, there's no way humanly possible, you could be effective at that job. That's what Congressman Hayworth said. But he also points out that you don't know who is a public -- who is a risk. You just don't know, with 301,000 leads just for this one unit last year, any one of those could have been a risk.

DOBBS: So we're at a situation now where the federal government, not the State Department, not Homeland Security, not any department knows where those 3.6 million people are. They don't know where the database leads them. They don't know which database they're in, nor how to track them, and we only have fewer than 300 people at least to go after 3.6 million people.

ROMANS: In some cases, these are just closed because they don't have an address on record for some of these people, according to the inspector general.

DOBBS: And it takes how long to grant a visa and how long to run down one of these so-called overstays -- I love that word, overstay.

ROMANS: It takes about 30 minutes to grant a legal permanent residency, a green card. It takes about two months to investigate whether somebody overstayed, if there is an investigation.

DOBBS: We won't do the extrapolation on two months for each of 3.6 million violators, but that is remarkable. This is a government that's out of control, an immigration policy that doesn't exist. And one of the most, I think, criminally negligent attitudes on the part of this administration toward national security. This is nothing more than a raw and bad joke on the American people.

ROMANS: Can you imagine if you're one of these people out there and it's your job to track these people down? And you just, you know.

DOBBS: It's insufferable. The position we're putting them in, and the position we're putting the lives and the well-being of Americans in. It shouldn't be tolerated, but that it goes on is abysmal. Christine Romans, as always, thank you.

That brings us to the topic of our poll tonight -- do you believe the Department of Homeland Security should immediately learn the identity and location of those whose visas have expired, to assure our national security? Vote yes or no, cast your vote at loudobbs.com. We'll have the results coming up here in just a matter of moments.

STUFF & News YOU missed!

Mexico's war is here!

The TV Media hasn't even reported this incident yet!

AP Reports Bomb Has Damaged US Consulate in Mexico

Sat. The AP is reporting that a bomb has been thrown over the wall of the US consulate in Nuevo Laredo on Saturday. Nuevo Laredo is a border city in Mexico. At the time of this writing, there are no injuries.
Sunday Update: We understand the Consulate in Nuevo Loredo has been closed.

"First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to visit Mexico City on April 13th through 15th.

It's not clear if or how the attack would alter those plans."

Mexican Cartels Using IEDs

[snip]AUSTIN - The Mexican military seized improvised explosive devices just miles from the Valley. The IEDs (or roadside bombs) are the same weapons terrorists use in the Middle East.

The homemade explosives can be sophisticated or crude. They're often deadly. They've killed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS learned the weapons are also in the hands of the drug cartels in Mexico.

On March 30, more than 50 cartel members attacked the Mexican military in Matamoros and Reynosa. Eighteen people died.

Soldiers seized 50 rifles, 60 hand grenades, and eight IEDs.

"The seizure of the IEDs is definitely worrisome," says a Latin American tactical analyst for STRATFOR, a private intelligence agency.

On the ‘View’: Meghan McCain Blasts Tea Parties
Sen. John McCain’s daughter says the movement is filled with “innate racism.”

Does ANYONE think Meghan isn’t doing her father’s bidding???

Now remember kiddies, it's NOT AMNESTY, it's 'legalization'... so it's just dandy!

Same result...20 million democrat/socialist voting foreigners get to stay...but it's NOT amnesty. We learned yesterday that Lindsey Graham & Chuck Schumer will introduce 'immigration reform' in the Senate any day.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

John McCain, of course, now says this is NOT Amnesty, that he has NEVER wanted Amnesty and now wants to build a fence! But his own words refute that one!

[snip]A day earlier, in Milwaukee, in front of an audience of more sympathetic businessmen, McCain had been asked how debate over the immigration bill was playing politically. “In the short term, it probably galvanizes our base,” he said. “In the long term, if you alienate the Hispanics, you’ll pay a heavy price.” Then he added, unable to help himself, “By the way, I think the fence is least effective. But I’ll build the goddamned fence if they want it.”

* May 29, 2003 interview: McCain: “Amnesty has to be an important part because there are people who have lived in this country for 20, 30 or 40 years, who have raised children here and pay taxes here and are not citizens.“

* Dec. 15, 2000 press release: McCain: ”I support the Latino and Immigrant Fairness Act (LIFA). Negotiations between the White House and the leadership, which endorsed more limited immigration reform, have resulted in a compromise.... this bill makes meaningful but insufficient progress on amnesty for those wrongly denied it.“

McCain actually said this just a few days ago.

“President Reagan granted amnesty to two million people and that was wrong,” McCain said.

___________________________________________

Given that McCain has spent the last ten years running for president, with more time in Iowa & N.H. than Arizona, I thought it would be interesting to see just how often 'the maverick' bothers to show up for Senate votes.

Well, guess what, as bad as Obama was, McCain was even worse.

[snip]Sen. John McCain (AZ) -- the only current Republican presidential candidate who is a sitting U.S. senator -- has missed more votes than any other senator since Congress convened in January, with the exception of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), who spent months recuperating from a brain hemorrhage. According to washingtonpost.com's U.S. Congress Votes Database, Obama has missed 74 out of 93 roll-call votes (79.6%) since the end of the August congressional recess.

McCain has missed 63 out of 93 roll-call votes (67.8%) since the end of the August congressional recess. But for the entire year, McCain has missed 79 more votes than Obama; since January, McCain has missed 212 out of 403 (52.6%) roll-call votes in the 110th Congress, while Obama has missed 133 out of 403 (33.0%) roll-call votes.

see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eiUNzrpxBo

— June 29, 2008 — Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) became the most absent member of the Senate. According to the Washington Post's votes database, McCain has "missed 367 votes (61.4%) during the current Congress." In fact, CQ reports today that McCain hasn't voted in the Senate since April 8.

On the other hand, J.D. Hayworth missed only 1% of his votes in congress.

McCain......
Hayworth.......

John Hayworth missed 95 (1%) of 7,172 roll call votes between Jan 4, 1995 and Dec 9, 2006.

The absentee rate is in red. The two thin black lines provide a context for understanding the significance of the absentee rate. The lower dotted line shows the median value for all Members of Congress in that time period. The upper dotted line shows the 90th percentile. A Member who approaches the upper dotted line is in the worst 10 percent of Congress.

AND another tidbit this week....

Somalis with terrorist links feared headed to U.S. border

[snip]”Somalis with ties to a terrorist organization are believed to be plotting to illegally enter the United States after being mistakenly released from custody in Mexico, a confidential federal law enforcement report said.” SNIPPET: “Included in the group is Mohamed Osman Noor, 35, of Somalia, who U.S. officials suspect has strong ties to Al-Shabaab Mujahideen, an Islamist insurgency group in the ongoing war in Somalia with ties to al Qaeda. The report was written by an intelligence official with the Laredo Sector Border Intelligence Center, a joint federal task force under the Department of Homeland Security

BLAST FROM THE PAST: (More about McCain's gambling/mob ties)

Arizona (which borders Nevada) has long had a serious mob presence, with many mafia men retiring there. In 1995, McCain sent birthday regards, and regrets for not attending, to Joseph "Joe Bananas" Bonanno, the "boss of bosses" and head of New York's Bonanno crime family (one of the big 5 families), who had retired to Arizona. Another politician to send regrets was Governor Fife Symington, who has since been kicked out of office and convicted of 7 felonies relating to fraud and extortion. --

Here are a few (NOT all) highlights included in the bill that Cspan listed. The fence wasn't mentioned during the 5 minute vote. The anchor baby provision was dumped during a deal making by the rules committee.

Ron Paul...his real record or campaign rhetoric?

Ron Paul claims to be the 'small government' candidate. Recently , we compared legislation co sponsored by Paul with others, for instance Duncan Hunter. Paul co sponsored 1000 more pieces of legislation written by others than did Hunter in the same period.

We've been told by Paul fans that 1876 pieces of legislation he co sponsored MUST have been strictly about lowering spending or correcting constitutional injustice!!!! YOU decide......

This isn't all of Paul's co sponsored legislation, just a few. Take note of how they increase policy and enforcement within the IRS and the Dept. of Education. Also, the support for Mexico, etc. Notice also the socialist/liberal members of congress he supported.

Ten years earlier, in 1987, he wrote that the United States should not have a national immigration policy and "should welcome everyone who wants to come here and work."

From Paul's website: "A co-sponsor is a Member of Congress who joins with the sponsor in originally introducing the legislation, or officially supporting it after the measure has been formally introduced to the Congress."
