Controversial Muslim cleric caught being smuggled into U.S. over Mexico border

By Daily Mail Reporter 28th January 2011

U.S. border guards got a surprise when they searched a Mexican BMW and found a hardline Muslim cleric - banned from France and Canada - curled up in the boot.

Said Jaziri, who called for the death of a Danish cartoonist that drew pictures of the prophet Mohammed, was being smuggled into California when he was arrested, along with his driver Kenneth Robert Lawler.

The 43-year-old was deported from Canada to his homeland Tunisia in 2007 after it emerged he had lied on his refugee application about having served jail time in France.

Asylum: Jaziri had allegedly paid a Tijuana-based smuggling group $5,000 to get him across the border near Tecate, saying he wanted to be taken to a ‘safe place anywhere in the U.S.’

His fire and brimstone sermons and rabble-rousing antics catapulted him into the public eye during his short tenure as imam at a Montreal mosque.

He branded homosexuality a disease and led protests over cartoonist Kurt Westergaard’s illustrations poked fun at Islam and were published in a Danish newspaper in 2006.

He also caused anger when he campaigned for a bigger mosque to accommodate Montreal’s burgeoning Muslim population.[snip]

Iranian Book Celebrating Suicide Bombers Found in Arizona Desert

Jan. 27, 2011 EXCLUSIVE: A book celebrating suicide bombers has been found in the Arizona desert just north of the U.S.- Mexican border, authorities tell Fox News.

The book, "In Memory of Our Martyrs," was spotted Tuesday by a U.S. Border Patrol agent out of the Casa Grande substation who was patrolling a route known for smuggling illegal immigrants and drugs.

Agents also say that the book appears to have been exposed to weather in the desert "for at least several days or weeks."

Published in Iran, it consists of short biographies of Islamic suicide bombers and other Islamic militants who died carrying out attacks.

Statements from U.S. officials, including FBI director Robert Mueller, have raised serious concerns in recent years over "OTMs" -- or illegal immigrants other than Mexicans -- who have crossed the southwest border at alarming rates.

Mueller testified before the House Appropriations Committee in March 2005 that "there are individuals from countries with known Al Qaeda connections who are changing their Islamic surnames to Hispanic-sounding names and obtaining false Hispanic identities, learning to speak Spanish and pretending to be Hispanic."

Just last year, the Department of Homeland Security had in custody thousands of detainees from Afghanistan, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. U.S. Border Patrol statistics indicate that there were 108,025 OTMs detained in 2006, compared to 165,178 in 2005 and 44,614 in 2004.

Authorities would not release a picture of the book to Fox News, or reveal how long they believe it was lying in the desert. Immigration officials have previously discovered items along the U.S.-Mexico border from Middle Eastern origin, including Iranian currency in Zapata, Texas, and a jacket found in Jim Hogg County, Texas, that was covered in patches including an Arabic military badge that illustrates an airplane flying into a tower.

A woman was interviewed by Glenn Beck this week who recently spent 2 wks. with family in Mexico. She was repeatedly told about ‘Arabs’ being seen with heads of the cartel gangs. Iran is a favored trading partner with Mexico and votes like them in the UN...more often with Iran than with the USA.

Eritrean Man Pleads Guilty to Alien Smuggling

[snip] According to plea documents, from at least June 2007 until approximately January 2008, Fessahazion was the Guatemalan link of an alien smuggling network that spans East Africa, Central and South America. Specifically, according to the court documents, Fessahazion illegally entered the United States at McAllen, Texas, on March 20, 2008. He applied for asylum on Sept. 30, 2008, claiming in his application that he was traveling across Africa in 2007 and 2008, fleeing persecution in Eritrea. However, according to court documents, Fessahazion was actually in Guatemala during that period facilitating the smuggling of East African aliens to the United States. Fessahazion was granted asylum by the United States on Nov. 13, 2008.

Fessahazion admitted that for profit, he encouraged or induced at least six and up to 24 illegal aliens, primarily East Africans, to come to, enter, or reside in the United States knowing that they were not authorized to do so. Fessahazion admitted he moved aliens from Honduras through Guatemala and into Mexico illegally, at which point he referred aliens to a smuggler who brought the aliens into the United States.

Mexican Cartel ‘Franchises in the U.S.

Drug cartels have rented offices and apartments in order to coordinate drug trafficking, kidnappings and extortion in both countries, and to recruit young Americans. The San Diego office of the U.S. Department of Justice and DEA report of buildings rented by the Arellano Felix cartel which served as the chief operating offices for their larger network. These offices are located in San Diego, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix, Houston, New York, Seattle, Dallas, Tucson, Chicago, Florida and New Jersey, among other places. The investigation established that young women are used as drug mules between the U.S. and Mexico, and also as bait for kidnappings. In addition to using women with a criminal record, the cartels also recruit U.S. latina gang members. The U.S. authorities used communication towers to monitor cell phone and radio communications used by the cartel in Tijuana, Mexico. Through the 50,000 surveillance recordings, the DOJ came to know how the cartels were physically expanding into the U.S. The case is due to go to trial with 46 defendants. (Note: graphic shows the Mexican cartels using gangs to dominate territory and sell drugs retail. It lists pandilla, or gang, and the cartel affiliation)

Idaho police: Man stole cop car to be deported

JEROME, Idaho (AP) - Police in Idaho say a man who asked authorities to arrest and deport him to Mexico stole a squad car after his request was denied.

The Idaho Mountain Express reports that 38-year-old Guadalupe Cruz-Vasquez went to the Jerome County Sheriff's office Monday night and demanded to be deported.

Police Sgt. Duane Rubink says authorities declined to take the Jerome resident into custody, so he walked to a nearby police station, broke the window of a squad car and drove away with the vehicle. The car ran out of gas. ....Cruz-Vasquez finally got his wish.

Immigration: At what cost to schools?

[snips]The Pew Hispanic Center estimated that about 8 percent of Utah students in kindergarten through 12th grade had an undocumented parent in 2009 — a figure higher than the national average of about 6.2 percent. And a 2007 legislative audit estimated that it cost Utah between $55 million and $85 million in fiscal year 2006 to educate just undocumented students.
“If you isolate the cost of illegal immigrant children in the classroom we could have forgone taking that [federal] money,” said Eagar, referring to $101 million Utah recently accepted to help schools.

Mexican Women are Risking Their Lives Against Violence

They are mothers and daughters, and use lipstick and high heels. Hundreds of Mexican women who, even with the nation’s insecurity, leave daily for the streets to combat crime. One example is Marisol Valles Garcia, chief of police for a troubled municipality in Chihuahua not far from Juarez. The 20 year old married criminology student was the only one willing to accept the position after previous ones were kidnapped and executed. She says she wants people to not live in fear, ad for her son to live in a different community than what they now have. The day after Christmas, Erika Gandara, the only female police officer in Guadalupe, Chihuahua, was kidnapped by gunmen from her home. She had been in that position for only 6 months. It isn’t just in Chihuahua that there are brave women, but also in Coahuila. An example is Raquel Quesada, the only woman to make it through the difficult screening & training to become an officer with the Municipal Police in Torreon. A bilingual secretary by profession, and married with three daughters, her goal is to one day become chief of the police department.

More attention urged for border agent's killing in Arizona

After the massive response to the Tucson shootings, Nogales is frustrated about lack of progress on another violent death.

Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, 40, was shot and killed in Arizona just north of the Mexican border. (U.S. Customs and Border Protection / Detroit Free Press / MCT),0,7944792.story

[snip]Yet more than a month after Terry's death, prosecutors still have filed no homicide charges against the unidentified men in custody, nor have they caught the fifth suspect, who may have been the triggerman.

After the massive law enforcement response to the Jan. 8 shootings of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others, there is frustration here that Terry's death has not taken the same priority.

Hypocrites on the left, and on the right...the Left wins!

In the wake of the horrid, tragic shooting of our Congresswoman and other innocents by a lone MADMAN, it's logical to look at the leader before casting blame on silly notions like Sarah Palin or the Tea Party! NOT ONE incident of violence has EVER been proven against Tea Party participants.

June 2008, Obama quoted the movie The Chicago Way in a speech:
"If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun," Obama said
in Philadelphia last night. "Because from what I understand, folks in Philly like a good brawl. "

More ..... if you care to see it from Mr. Obama himself.....AND just where was the 'moment' of silence for those 13 murdered by a radical islamist at Ft. Hood!

Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”
Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
Obama to His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
Obama on the private sector: “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“
Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat”
Obama to lib supporters: “It’s time to Fight for it.”
Obama to Latino supporters: “Punish your enemies.”
Obama to democrats: “I’m itching for a fight.”

A close friend of the assassin, Jared Lee Loughner, says it best:

"I think the reason he did it was mainly to just promote chaos. He wanted the media to freak out about this whole thing. He wanted exactly what's happening. He wants all of that."
And the left, including the media, is MORE than willing to give him the craziness he wanted. And speaking of the left, this is who they coddle and NEVER blame for the thousands of deaths their protected illegal aliens cause. We can't do much about our native born crazies, but every blood of every innocent American, like the border agent a few days ago, Robert Krentz and the countless and ignored thousands of others IS on the hands of the media and the left.

Amnesty Advocates Interrupt Birthright Event, Tackle Senior Citizen
Center for Immigration Studies ^ | Jan. 5, 2011 | John Feere

While attending a discussion on birthright citizenship held by the State Legislators for Legal Immigration at the National Press Club in Washington this morning, I was able to witness the true face of the pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration crowd. On at least four occasions, the so-called "pro-immigrant" activists attempted to stop discussion by rudely interrupting the speakers and shouting down state legislators and professors. ABC News has some raw video footage of the efforts to stifle debate, including the effort by one disruptive activist to "accidentally" fall while a senior citizen attempted to escort him to the door. The elderly gentleman was knocked down by the activist's phony, designed-to-create-sympathy tumble. The activist bounced back to his feet nearly right away and continued shouting; predictably the senior citizen took a few seconds longer to get back up, with no help from any reporter or the protestor.

One wonders whether the generally pro-amnesty journalists in attendance will have any commentary on the childish and rude behavior of the open-border crowd. One also wonders whether any of the pro-amnesty groups in attendance (e.g., ACLU, LULAC, National Immigration Forum, La Raza, the Leadership Conference) will decry the efforts to stifle debate.

It is mind-boggling that these advocates continue to use such tactics at press events – (for the record, I’ve experienced similar tactics while serving as a panelist at Harvard, as have my colleagues at a number of other forums throughout the country). The amnesty advocates fail to realize that their lack of professionalism and civility is one reason why the American public does not take them seriously. One would think that after a decade's-worth of failed attempts at the DREAM Act and similar measures, the amnesty crowd would change their methods. But it seems that their New Year's resolution was to become even more confrontational and more hostile to the idea of open debate.

While it is sad to see the open-borders crowd sink to such depths, it does indicate that they are losing the political fight over immigration policy. When one cannot change minds through open dialogue, the only option left is to silence opposition – and that is the current strategy for some amnesty advocates.

They need to be reminded. You need to be reminded. Confront them. Don’t be cowed into silence.

And don’t let the media whitewash the sins of the hypocritical Left in their naked attempt to suppress the law-abiding, constitutionally-protected, peaceful, vigorous political speech of the Right....They want to play tu quo que in the middle of a national tragedy?
