Barack Obama must stop campaigning and start governing

Perhaps we should not be surprised that the land of the permanent campaign has produced a president like Barack Obama. During his White House bid, Mr Obama's staff argued that his masterful oversight of the machinery that ultimately got him elected was his highest achievement.

In many respects this was true, though Mr Obama was more chairman than CEO. Even Republican political operatives acknowledge that the Obama '08 campaign was a thing of beauty.

Essentially, however, Mr Obama won because of his persona – post-racial, healing, cool, articulate and inspirational. In a sense, therefore, his greatest achievement in life is being Barack Obama. Or the campaign version, at least.

Therein lies the problem. While campaigning could centre around soaring rhetoric, governing is altogether messier. It involves tough, unpopular choices and cutting deals with opponents. It requires doing things rather than talking about them, let alone just being.

Mr Obama is showing little appetite for this. Instead of being the commander-in-chief, he is the campaigner-in-chief.

After a disastrous summer that saw his approval rating drop more than any other president at the same stage since Harry Truman in 1953, Mr Obama has temporarily abandoned the campaign-style events promoting his stalled health-care reform initiative.[snip]

I can't believe I'm saying this, but bravo for the Main Stream media! The Obama administration waged war this week against Fox News, spreading the word that they are not a news organization. Television media is standing up for Fox and free press.

"All the networks said, that's it, you've [WH] crossed the line," said CBS News White House correspondent Chip Reid.

[snip]But MSNBC in prime-time has its own lineup of commentators - all of whom are on the left side of the spectrum, some of whom met with the president the White House this week.

So why is the White House out to "de-legitimize" FOX? Not because it has opinions, but because its opinion voices are so hostile to Mr. Obama - and because FOX News is, as it has been for a decade, by far the most watched of the cable news networks. In fact, its ratings have increased 13 percent this summer. So if FOX is feeling any pain from the White House's stance, it's crying all the way to the bank.

BTW...remember the million plus Tea Party protestors in DC a few weeks ago? This is what the grounds looked like when they were done.


Contrast that with the Obama worshippers (envirofreaks, many were!) in the same place after his speech.

Squatter Support Squad - The SSS of the GOP

Lindsey Graham recently told conservatives in a town hall meeting to just get out of the GOP, they don't need them. This attitude isn't new, we've seen it from John McCain and other Republican 'leaders' when the subject of AMNESTY rears it's ugly head.

It doesn't matter that the vast majority of citizens on the right AND left oppose them.
'They' KNOW what is good for us! Just ask 'em!

The Squatter Support Squad of the GOP who favor amnesty, cheap labor and socialism. Though a minority, they are well funded and very vocal and might as well be the democrats they agree with.

Yes, they favor amnesty and despise anyone who doesn’t, as evidenced by comments full of insults, a trademark of this type. In so called 'conservative' circles' , during Bush’s push for amnesty, they used to try to insult me by calling me ‘old’...that doesn’t happen since they supported the ancient John McCain, twelve years my senior and TOO old to be president!

They ignore the facts:

He asked, " Do you feel it?"

Oh, yes, every minute of every day, Mr. Beck.

The 'IT' is the feeling that many of us have, the knowledge that History is being made. Americans stand at the crossroads with History storming upon us. Ignoring it won't change it's course. These days will be spoken of.

What did you do to save this Republic?
How did you vote?
Did you even try to be informed instead of blindly being led by some charismatic leader?
Did you chose country over party?

Your children will ask, "Did you speak up before they made it impossible for me?"
We have this one chance to get it right.

Lord Christopher Monckton, former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, gave a scathing and lengthy presentation, complete with detailed charts, graphs, facts, and figures which culminated in the utter decimation of both the pop culture concept of global warming and the credible threat of any significant anthropomorphic climate change.

ACORN - We were warned-It's worse than you know!

Rep. Michele Bachmann is all over radio presenting information on the corruption of congress, banking and ACORN. And HELL NO, they're not going to let her on mainstream TV news!
She explained that the CRA required banks to lend to unsound applicants OR they could instead contribute to.....ACORN.

It's even worse than Bachmann presents it. I found this article from the year 2000...we were ASLEEP! This is just a few snips, long, worth the read.

And remember, Clinton started misusing the law passed by congress - the Community Reinvestment Act, but for 8 years after the republicans were in charge and did NOTHING to stop the socialist democrats from spreading their corruption! The same democrats in charge today.

I have long stated that our financial, subprime home loan crisis was government created. The big boys have given the bailouts to the very people who caused all this mess! No wonder Obama was a lawyer for ACORN...THEY had ALL the money!

Under its provisions, U.S. banks have committed nearly $1 trillion for inner-city and low-income mortgages and real estate development projects, most of it funneled through a nationwide network of left-wing community groups

A radical group called ACORN Housing has a $760 million commitment from the Bank of New York; the Boston-based Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America has a $3-billion agreement with the Bank of America; a coalition of groups headed by New Jersey Citizen Action has a five-year, $13-billion agreement with First Union Corporation. Similar deals operate in almost every major U.S. city.

This policy—”America’s best mortgage program for working people,” NACA calls it—is an experiment with extraordinarily high risks. There is no surer way to destabilize a neighborhood than for its new generation of home buyers to lack the means to pay their mortgages—which is likely to be the case for a significant percentage of those granted a no-down-payment mortgage based on their low-income classification rather than their good credit history.
