Simcox Fence Controversy - Take it for what it's worth!
UPDATE: 7/24/06
Jim Gilchrist and Jerome Corsi were on the Coast to Coast show last night(www.coasttocoastam.com) and Jim addressed this situation with Simcox/and his fundraiser/bookkeeper/fencecontrator outfit.
Jim said he and Chris signed on with Diener(and their associates) and they handled the $ during Jim's congressional campaign. The host asked him what he thought of the outfit. Jim said "nothing complimentry".
He said he let them go because he could get "no financial reports out of them".
Same problem we're seeing today. This is a pattern. Simcox and Gilcrist met AFTER Jim had formed the MinuteManProject and Simcox has always run his own concerns, the MCDC. Jim is a CPA, he doesn't need "pros" handling his money and works independently of Diener, Simcox, etc.

You Have Heard The News Now Hear The Truth
Sometimes You Stand Alone
From time to time the media has confused The Minuteman Project, Inc. with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. This confusion has led to hard feelings and misrepresentations. Therefore, we would like to set the record straight.
Over a year ago, Mr. Jim Gilchrist led almost 1,000 volunteers to the U.S. and the Mexican border in Southeast Arizona and successfully conducted the largest Minuteman campaign since the Revolutionary War. The Minuteman Project also proved beyond a doubt that U.S. borders can be protected if our political leaders merely have the will to do so. Jim Gilchrist's Minuteman Project brought national awareness to the illegal alien invasion of the United States and embarrassed both the U.S. Congress and the White House. When asked by the media about The Minuteman Project, the president went on record as saying, "Mr. Jim Gilchrist and the volunteers of The Minuteman Project were 'vigilantes'".
Jim Gilchrist is the 21st Century Minuteman. On October 1, 2004 he founded The Minuteman Project, Inc. as a stand alone organization that is in no part related to, or has any business dealing with, the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, whose President is Chris Simcox.
While The Minuteman Project, Inc. and Mr. Jim Gilchrist recognize the work of Chris Simcox and his Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, there is no business relationship with either Chris Simcox or his organization. The Minuteman Project, Inc., and Mr. Jim Gilchrist will always applaud the work of any patriot who believes in the sovereignty and security of the United States of America. The Minuteman Project, Inc. is directed solely by Mr. Jim Gilchrist, his Board of Directors, and no one else.

"What is the name of this P.R. firm, please?"
I'll get to that in a minute.
I've had a real bad last 3 days and I'm going to piss and moan and then I'm going to turn this computer off and I may never turn it on again.
Simcox, like many others in this battle over illegal immigration, solicits a lot of empathy from those of us who are involved. We, shall we say, "feel his pain" and realize the sacrifices anyone who fights for this country makes. Those that don't realize that have done nothing and sacrificed nothing. War isn’t all fought on the battlefield, that’s just what we ultimately come to when we fail to stop armed conflict.
I don't know if Simcox is a con or not. None of us know his heart. But he's surrounding himself with people that are not coming across kosher enough to suit me at this point and too many egos are out of control. There’s always someone wanting to use a good cause for greedy motives. It’s amazing how much can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit.
I don’t like contradictions and this story is just packed with ‘em. They may well all jell together and make perfect sense one day. Yesterday wouldn’t have been soon enough.
Maybe you all can figure this out, I give up. There’s more, but I’m sick of it all. I question some of the people surrounding this “fence”. The lines are becoming blurred. __________
(06-15) 15:24 PDT Sierra Vista, Ariz. (AP) -- The Minutemen civilian border-patrol group has hired a contractor to finish building 10 miles of fence along the Mexican border. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/06/15/national/a152416D46.DTL
This quote is from a Peter Kunz email 6/23/06 “ I am the fence project manager and since he [Glenn Spencer] has never called me or been in any of the fence planning meetings it is clear that he likes to get attention by going after Chris and MCDC.”
The Associated Press Tucson, Arizona | Published: 07.05.2006
Connie Hair, a spokeswoman for the group (other media/PR person for the Simcox group is Kristinn Taylor ), which opposes illegal immigration, said Wednesday that construction of vehicle barriers will start soon on the first fence project, headed by contractor Peter Kunz. http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/hourlyupdate/136644.php
Evidently the fence is being “managed” from Pennsylvania by a lawyer for a fund raising firm named Diener Consultants (founded by the Rev. Lou Sheldon of Traditional Values Coalition, headed by son Phil ), the same Peter Kunz who is now a fencing “contractor”. Is this Peter Kunz, lawyer a fencing contractor as he’s claimed, or not?

An Update from the Minuteman Fence Project Manager
[snip]Chris Simcox has kept his promise and volunteers have begun building the Minuteman Border Fence. Chris has asked me (Peter Kunz) to give you a quick update on the activities and planning for the current fence project and our next site that starts in July.
An IRS-authorized charitable non-profit organization is facilitating, administering and reporting tax-deductible donations specifically and solely for construction of this Minuteman Border Fence project. Monetary and in-kind contributions for this effort will go directly into meeting hard costs such as building materials for this private fencing operation.

Schiavo Foundation Doesn’t Endorse Terri’s List PAC
[snip]Greene’s "patriot" at RightMarch and his media director is Phil Sheldon, son of Lou Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition. The email contact address for the RightMarch.com PAC is that of Sheldon’s at Diener Consultants of which he is CEO and president. Sheldon also heads Response Enterprises, both entities which profited handsomely from RightMarch. In 2005, according to FEC filings, of the $44,058 disbursed by the PAC, Response and Sheldon pocketed $12,752 while Diener took in $12,916 for a total of $25,669 for Sheldon. While the reports indicate that the bulk of the money was paid to Sheldon for advertising, Sheldon was also paid rental fees for email lists. Greene has been asked by the Schindler family to stop using Terri’s name in his fund-raising efforts.http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/021906NoEndorsement.html
[Jack]Abramoff quietly arranged for eLottery to pay conservative, anti-gambling activists to help in the firm's $2 million pro-gambling campaign, including Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition, and the Rev. Louis P. Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition. Both kept in close contact with Abramoff about the arrangement, e-mails show. Abramoff also turned to prominent anti-tax conservative Grover Norquist, arranging to route some of eLottery's money for Reed through Norquist's group, Americans for Tax Reform.
